He is the son of George Erasmus Darwin, a metallurgist, known as "Erasmus", and his wife Shuna (née Service). He has an older brother Robert George Darwin (born 1959) and a younger sister, the botanist [[Sarah Darwin]] (born 1964). Christopher William Darwin (born 1961 in London) is an adventurer, conservationist and media personality who lives in Australia. He is the great-great-grandson of Charles Darwin.

He failed biology A-level. He worked in advertising and television commercial production for several years in the United Kingdom before emigrating to Australia in 1986[1]. Darwin is married to Jacqui and has three children Ali, Erasmus (Ras) and Monty[2]. They live in the Blue Mountains north of Sydney, New South Wales, where Chris works as a nature tour guide.

In 1984 Tim Batstone windsurfed around Britain and wrote about it in his book Round Britain Windsurf - Darwin provided photographs for the book.

In 1991 he co-authored with John Amy the book The Social Climbers about the time in 1989 that they and a group of seven other friends held a dinner party on top of Mount Huascaran (the highest Mountain in Peru).

In 2003 he donated some money to the charity Bush Heritage Australia to help purchase the Charles Darwin Reserve in Western Australia[3][4]. In 2009 he became an ambassador for Bush Heritage Australia[5]

In 2005 he did a programme for Radio 4 on the Galapagos Islands[6]

In 2005 Chris, along with other descendants of Charles Darwin, including his father, sister, and various cousins, were involved in counting the flowers at Down House[7].

In 2006 he visited Charles Darwin University[1]

In 2009 he was guest of honour at the dinner celebrating the Darwin bicentenary at Melbourne Museum[8]

In 2010 he said he thought it was OK to teach kids creationism[9]

In 2011 he had his DNA tested for the Genographic Project[10]. As a male line descendent of Charles Darwin, he has the same Y chromosome as his great-great-grandfather[10]. It is from Haplogroup R1b.
