SuggestBot picks articles in a number of ways based on other articles you've edited, including straight text similarity, following wikilinks, and matching your editing patterns against those of other Wikipedians. It tries to recommend only articles that other Wikipedians have marked as needing work. Your contributions make Wikipedia better -- thanks for helping.

If you have feedback on how to make SuggestBot better, please tell me on SuggestBot's talk page. Thanks from Nettrom, SuggestBot's caretaker.

P.S. You received these suggestions because your name was listed on the SuggestBot request page. If this was in error, sorry about the confusion. -- SuggestBot (talk) 14:34, 12 October 2010 (UTC)

Cobalt flame
Sorry, but I removed your image from the cobalt article. The flame you see is that of copper. This reaction is used as a test for halogens. Called the Beilstein test. By the way cobalt is more of a blue green flame much weaker than that.--Stone (talk) 21:20, 12 October 2010 (UTC)
:Try it with sodium chloride and the copper wire. It will give you the same green flame.--Stone (talk) 06:27, 13 October 2010 (UTC)
::Sorry! Sodium is a stupid choice! HCl would work much better for that purpose. Heat the copper wire until the flame shows no colour any more and than dip it into HCl. Than back into the flame and you have the bright green colour you saw. Image on my talk page!--Stone (talk) 13:11, 13 October 2010 (UTC)

Writing suggestions
Hi I see that you are back to editing the inorganic articles. They need it. Here are some suggestions that took me a while to learn:
*you cannot react a compound. A compound can react.
*stability is a very special word for chemists and we use it more carefully than is sometime apparent. This statement about Mn2O7 is illogical “This oxidation state, +7, is shared by permanganates, which are more stable compounds.” One cannot compare the stability of these materials because their stoichiometries differ. You can say that Mn2O7 spontaneously hydrates.
*This is picky but untrue: " “Chloride is more easily oxidized than nickel(II).” The ligands on nickel determine its redox potential, although most readers will assume that you are referring to a hydrate.
Other: I removed the comments about the reaction of carbonate, oxide, hydroxide, alkoxide, bicarbonate, ... with HX to give the halides because the list is very long. So I tend to look for industrial routes to these halides and mention that. Best wishes, --Smokefoot (talk) 13:36, 13 October 2010 (UTC)

Sodium tellurate
I tried to add a reflist to your draft page, but it was blocked because of the lookchem.com URL. Two questions:
#How did you add that link in the first place?
#I checked the URL and found that it was a nonexistent page. Was it working when you added it to the page?
Nyttend (talk) 23:44, 15 October 2010 (UTC)
:I'm guessing the link was useable as the reference was not displayed as an actual external link, which it would be if a reflist were successfully added. I checked the link and it seemed to be working but contained annoyingly placed advertisements. ~<font color="blue">AH1</font>(TCU) 00:45, 16 October 2010 (UTC)
::I opened it on Notepad and saved it on my computer, then reopened it to get rid of the ads. --Chemicalinterest (talk) 00:55, 16 October 2010 (UTC)
:::Hmm, if you plan to move this draft to mainspace, you'll not be able to use that page as a reference because lookchem.com is on the Wikimedia-wide spam blacklist. If you really want to use it, you could go to :meta:Talk:Spam blacklist and request either that it be removed from the blacklist or that it be whitelisted; I'm not sure if it can be whitelisted just for your page or only for en:wp. If you don't have a Meta account, you can get one automatically if you already have unified login, and if you don't have and don't want unified login, it still won't be hard to create an account there. I'm willing to help you if you need/want it. Nyttend (talk) 12:15, 16 October 2010 (UTC)

Your remark on titanates
You should remove your statement that titanates "They are quite difficult to prepare." Why would you put that kind of statement into the article??? If you are unsure about something, you are always welcome to ask another editor who is experienced with chemistry.

:File:Cobalt hydroxide.JPG
Hi there. This image was transferred to Commons and the local copy will be deleted soon. You should therefore write the additional information in the description to the file on Commons. --Leyo 00:57, 17 October 2010 (UTC)
:Sorry, but I do not have access to wikimedia sites, only wikipedia sites. Otherwise I would upload to Commons all of the time because my work at simple may require a picture that is not here. So I am not able to update the description there. Anyway, thanks for uploading to commons--now I can use it in simple. --Chemicalinterest (talk) 00:59, 17 October 2010 (UTC)
::How comes that you do not have access? Are you really not able to edit Commons:File:Cobalt hydroxide.JPG? That would be strange. --Leyo 01:20, 17 October 2010 (UTC)

Have you tried? See Wikipedia:Unified login. Your WP user/pass should be global, allowing you single sign-on to all Wikimedia sites. --Rifleman 82 (talk) 01:57, 17 October 2010 (UTC)

:It seems that Content Advisor does not like Commons. Unfortunately, I do not have any experience with it. --Leyo 12:56, 17 October 2010 (UTC)

::The problem is that it is based on a rating system. Wikipedia is allowed on its whitelist manually. Most websites have no rating, so it blocks them anyway. Only a very few websites use the rating it uses. Maybe I can see if I can get wikimedia enabled, too. --Chemicalinterest (talk) 17:15, 17 October 2010 (UTC)
:::I am glad to see that it Commons:Special:Contributions/Chemicalinterest works now. --Leyo 18:55, 10 November 2010 (UTC)
::::Umm... it still doesn't work. That was on another computer that doesn't have a rating system enabled. --Chemicalinterest (talk) 20:08, 10 November 2010 (UTC)

Drop a note
Hi Chemicalinterest, sorry for not answering in a fast way. Family and work on ExoMars in real life takes some time. I like to hear about chemistry. It reminds me on the enthusiasm I had for chemistry before I spent 12 years to get a PhD. I had a lab at home and I did a lot of experiments, but this stopped after I had to do a lot of lab-work in the first few semesters. Try to stay away from the real dangerous things and enjoy the experiments, although I think it is sad that you have so little access to chemicals.--Stone (talk) 17:47, 22 October 2010 (UTC)

License tagging for File:Zn reaction with HCl (2).JPG
Thanks for uploading :File:Zn reaction with HCl (2).JPG. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 01:06, 25 November 2010 (UTC)

Good luck
I'm sorry you feel you need to reduce your time here, but I wish you luck on the Simple English wiki. Sometimes we all need a wikibreak, of various lengths, and often the project calls to us again after time away, and we find ourselves back editing. Sometimes that's because what originally annoyed us doesn't anymore, sometimes it's because things changed, sometimes it's because we feel able to avoid the things that wound us up last time, and sometimes it's just because we needed a break! And sometimes, people don't feel the call, and don't return. My longest break, when I was sure I'd never come back, I lasted 6 months :) I was so angry with specific users, and the community response, I avoided even reading the encyclopedia for a couple of months, since I could feel my blood-pressure rising at the thought! But, after enough time had passed, I didn't feel angry anymore, and I did want to edit (it was getting hard not to click the edit tab). So I started editing and writing the encyclopedia again, avoiding the users who made me so angry.

Some people come back, and some people don't, and that's okay. Good luck.

Oh, and I'm sorry to hear your experiments have been stopped :( It is a great shame, and I hope you work something out. A mind is a terrible thing to waste, and a talent a terrible thing to hide. Pictures

Hello Chemicalinterest, what do you mean with this: "How do you get element pictures?" --Alchemist-hp (talk) 22:25, 6 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Co2O3

Oops! Sorry. I was trying to remove the crystal structure, not your picture of the material, which I think is helpful. You can see that I looked into the Co2O3 and it apparently never been crystallized. Oxides are complicated things, but I digress...--Smokefoot (talk) 00:54, 11 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for uploading File:Rock_Brook.JPG. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Chris G Bot (talk) 03:38, 15 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Please email me if you have any further problems. --Chemicalinterest (talk) 20:51, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

MB Branch along South Middlebush Road.JPG

Regarding the image File:MB Branch along South Middlebush Road.JPG; Did you deliberatly post this image sideways? Because if you'd like I can replace it with an upright version before it gets sent off to the commons. ----DanTD (talk) 20:54, 22 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for the late response. I was away for a long time. No. It was taken in my more amateur days of photography. You can flip it if you like. --Chemicalinterest (talk) 20:51, 26 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Autopatrolled

Hello, this is just to let you know that I have granted you the "autopatrolled" permission. This won't affect your editing, it just automatically marks any page you create as patrolled, benefiting new page patrollers. Please remember:

 • This permission does not give you any special status or authority
 • Submission of inappropriate material may lead to its removal
 • You may wish to display the Autopatrolled top icon and/or the userbox on your user page
 • If, for any reason, you decide you do not want the permission, let me know and I can remove it
If you have any questions about the permission, don't hesitate to ask. Otherwise, happy editing! Acalamari 11:22, 22 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I actually don't need this as my editing is practically at a standstill. Goodbye. --Chemicalinterest (talk) 23:01, 22 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Alkali metal up for peer review

Hello Chemicalinterest, I've put the article up for peer review, would you care to take a look at it? Thanks, Lanthanum-138 (talk) 11:08, 16 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry for getting back so late. I am on a wikibreak and probably will not review the article any time soon. I can only respond occasionally to queries. --Chemicalinterest (talk) 21:13, 23 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Never mind, User:R8R Gtrs has started. Thanks anyway! Lanthanum-138 (talk) 06:31, 24 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Screwy neodymnium (III) photos

I have been unable to locate the photos you uploaded to the neodymium article in the website. However, I have reason to believe that they are labeled incorrectly. The "daylight" and "fluorescent light" photos should be somewhat similar, due to fluorescent emissions from UV, which should be missing in the "incandescent" shot. But that is not what we see! So I don't believe it. Any photo in which incandescent "fluorescence" looks more like daylight than "fluoroscent light" fluorescense does, has got to be wrong.
