The cast featured Ernie Coombs as Mr. Dressup, both of whom would follow with their own landmark television series.

  • The show was broadcast in black and white and originally was 20 minutes until the final season when it was 30 minutes long.
  • The show was broadcast at 11:30 a.m., then 11:00 a.m., later on.
  • Following Butternut Square's cancellation, Mr. Dressup would get his own series, in the fall of 1967. Puppets Casey and Finnegan would also join him on that new series.
