Galgotias University is a co-educational private university situated at Greater Noida (NCR) in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. Previously known as Galgotias Educational Institutions, it has been granted university status in 2011 by Uttar Pradesh government. Galgotias University has been established by "Uttar Pradesh Galgotias University act no. 14 of 2011" under section 3 of UGC Act 1956. The university's admission cut-off lists show its high requirements of percentage putting university in one of the top looked after private universities in country.
History
The institution was established by the Smt. Shakuntla Educational & Welfare Society as Galgotias Educational Institutions on 16, December 1998. The institution was established to provide top-quality engineering & management education to students from every walk of life, and the institute still thrives on this policy. Galgotias Educational Institutions(GEI) originally had three colleges namely-
- Galgotias College of Engineering & Technology (GCET) engineering college affiliated by Mahamaya Technical University (Uttar Pradesh Technical University)
- Galgotias Institute of Management & Technology (GIMT) management college affiliated by Mahamaya Technical University (Uttar Pradesh Technical University)
- Galgotias Business School (GBS) PGDM college
Apart from academics Galgotias has always been indulged in Publication & other activities providing their students a full market & industry interactions.
Location
Galgotias University (Galgotias Education City) is having its main campus in Greater Noida near Jaypee Sports Complex (Buddh International Circuit) while the original campus of Galgotias Educational Institutions is located at Knowledge Park-II right beside Noida Expressway.

Galgotias University campus is located at Noida-Delhi 8 lane expressway and is surrounded by agricultural land & educational societies. The campus has separate hostels for boys and girls. University has a complete wi-fi campus with fully automated library and a different Student activity centre for co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. University also boasts of state of the art auditorium, confrence & seminar halls.[1]
- Central Library
Central Library consists of a number of departmental libraries which collectively support the teaching, research and extension programmes of the Institute. All students, faculty members and employees of the Institute are entitled to make use of the Library facilities on taking library membership. The Library besides having a huge collection of books on engineering, science and Bioinformatics, Humanities and Social Sciences, Mass Communication offers library services through its various divisions. The Library uses (Libsys/SIM) software package which is an integrated multi-user library management system that supports all in-house operations of the Library. Libsys consists of modules on acquisition, cataloguing, circulation, serials, article indexing and OPAC. Central Library has 9925 titles, 74585 volumes, 238 National Journals, 165 International Journals, 75 magazines, 760 CD's. The Library is also in institutional membership with DELNET & American Central Library.[2]
