Mahakshay Chakraborty (Template:Lang-hi; born Mimoh Chakraborty on 30 July 1984) is an Indian actor working in the Hindi film industry. Born in Mumbai, India, Chakraborty is the son of a three-time National Film Award-winning Indian film actor, Mithun Chakraborty.

In 2008, Chakraborty auditioned for the lead role in Raj Sippy's Jimmy, and got selected. The action film was set in the world of crime and required Chakraborty to portray a typical Mumbai DJ named Jimmy Pushp. After its release, Jimmy was a Box office flop and was mostly given negative reviews by critics. He went on to be nominated the Best Male Debut award at the Filmfare Awards.

Early life

Mahakshay Chakraborty was born on 30 July 1984, in Mumbai, to Bengali/Hindi actors, Mithun Chakraborty and Yogeeta Bali.

Film Career

Mahakshay debuted with a lead role in the 2008 film Jimmy, playing a DJ in Mumbai, who is falsely accused of a murder he never did, which leads him into the crime world. Jimmy wasn't a commercial success at the box office, and had mixed reviews, but mostly negative. A few positive, but many critics gave it negative reviews, even the critic who signed him up for the role of Jimmy Pushp in the film stated that "Jimmy is a poor show all the way. The script disappoints, not the star-kid. The film may not have a future, but the star-kid does!"

In 2009, he starred in the action flick, Hamilton Palace, which was earlier tiled as The Murderer along with Simran, Monalisa, Raza Murad and Shakti Kapoor. He also appeared in a special appearance in Spaghetti 24/7 with his father Mithun Chakraborty. In May 2011 his next film Haunted - 3D released, which was the first Indian stereo-scopic 3-D horror film. The film though had a slow start and mixed reviews from critics, it started picking up from the weekends. Though clashing with a Yashraj release and follwed by another horror Balaji Telefilms release; Ragini MMS, Haunted went on to run for five weeks on a row, grossing enormously in the 3D version and handsomely in the 2D. Soon it became the highest grossing horror film of India. The film's soundtrack too was a major success
