Gruvis Malt or Grüvis Malt is a six piece band from Providence, Rhode Island that was formed in 1995. They have released 5 full length records albums independently, one full-length with the defunct label Lakeshore Records, and several EPs (independently). They are known for using irregular time signatures and unconventional chord progressions. They are also considered the founders of the niche genre "futurock."

Lumas
Lumas, the band's most cerebral canine is often referred to as a member of the band or even the creative genius behind the band. He often makes appearances at live shows and the band maintains that he has performed vocally on every album to date.

Vismal CDR Series
CD series using homemade packaging and CDR format as a means to publish the music as quickly and frequently as possible.
Tour History
They toured the US from 1998-2004, with bands like Locale A.M., One Drop, and most recently with Sage Francis as his backing band and opener. Strange Famous records released a Live Band Dead Poet album chronicalling that tour, as well as Road Tested which features several recordings from that tour. Gruvis Malt has also played with Incubus, Ozomatli, Rustic Overtones, and several others.
