The first sentence of the article includes the phrase "with a newer or better version." If the word 'or' is interpreted to be exclusive, then the replacement hardware/software may not be both newer AND better. As a longtime user of computers, I agree with the exclusive interpretation as most times the newer software is not better, just newer. However, the meaning is ambiguous. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.144.63.24 (talk) 16:59, 7 January 2011 (UTC) |

Software upgrade
What about upgrading of software (I mean licensing etc. issues).--Kozuch (talk) 15:56, 5 June 2008 (UTC)
Disambiguation and additional possible entries for 'Upgrade'
'Upgrade' has wider meaning than just its popular contemporary application to CS. I was looking for a strict definition vis-a-vis stock analysis. There should be a disambiguation description. I'm not really a wikipaedist, otherwise I'd do it. Just a suggestion. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Daleroes (talk • contribs) 20:58, 8 August 2008 (UTC)
It may also be useful to consider the airline industry use of 'upgrade' to mean an improvement in seating class. Elgordon (talk) 04:55, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
Use of the word 'or' is ambiguous
The first sentence of the article includes the phrase "with a newer or better version." If the word 'or' is interpreted to be exclusive, then the replacement hardware/software may not be both newer AND better. As a longtime user of computers, I agree with the exclusive interpretation as most times the newer software is not better, just newer. However, the meaning is ambiguous. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.144.63.24 (talk) 16:59, 7 January 2011 (UTC)
