Meghan Daum (born: 1970 in California) is an American author, essayist, and journalist. Although she was born in California, Daum grew up primarily in Ridgewood, New Jersey. She received her bachelor's degree from Vassar College and her Master of Fine Arts degree from Columbia University.

Daum spent much of her twenties in New York City. In 1999, she moved to Lincoln, Nebraska, and the experience became the catalyst for her 2003 novel The Quality of Life Report. This novel is a semi-roman à clef for Daum, which follows the life and times of an ambitious young journalist named Lucinda Trout. She is also the author of a collection of essays, entitled My Misspent Youth.[1]

Her work has appeared in the pages of The New Yorker, GQ, Harper's, and The Village Voice.

Daum lives in Los Angeles, California and is currently a columnist for the Los Angeles Times. Her column appears every Saturday in the Op-Ed section of the Times.
