Hi there, the image description page for this image states that you'd like the image deleted. However, I noticed that you've added it to Portal:Shakespeare/Intro. Do you still want the image deleted? If so, could you please tag it as {{db|Creator request}}. If not, could you please tag it as {{PD-old}}. Thanks, JYolkowski // talk 15:22, 12 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Nice Work!

It is great to see another dedicated to building a strong community here. Keep the welcomes coming! You might also want to look at a few of the user boxes on my user page for some things you might like to join in our community. Kukini 23:57, 13 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello

Thanks for the welcome. I went to Cirencester College too, '97 to '99. What a small world... Joemahon 13:50, 14 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I did English Lit, History and French at A-level, probably with some of the same lecturers you've got. Did an English degree after that, so if there's anything that needs looking at on Portal:Shakespeare I'd be happy to muck in. Any stubs or new pages you need working on? Hi James, I saw your posting on the talk page. Just add your name to member requests here and you're in. Welcome! --Mmounties 14:33, 14 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your offer to serve as copy editor. Actually, there is a huge number of articles on the de-en translation request page that are all proofreading candidates if the urge to edit ever overcomes you. It's always good to have someone take a look and polish the language. I for one, although at just about native levels in both languages, have a really hard time if I have to keep switching back and forth like we do when translating. So please, feel free to pick any and all of the articles listed here and edit your heart out! They're all at the bottom of the page and more are on the linked (from there) archive page(s). Trust me! We can use all the help we can get.  :) Just please keep in mind when editing: we should respect the writer/translator and not change words that are spelled correctly in English somewhere other than where we live (for example, meter vs. metre, stuff like that). Happy editing!!! --Mmounties 19:12, 14 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the welcome... Hope I can make some useful contributions in this great everexpanding universe called knowledge. Highvanhoe 15:05, 14 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello

Yeah, I like helping other people out. And I always support the newcomers, and I just started a couple of days ago, so I'm new at it. But its fun. And another thing, is I got those two people to join so they could help me out with some firearm articles, so I decided to create a little introductory "speech" if you will, so they can start to understand the world of Wiki. Hi

Hi James, thanks for your welcome! I have just written my first article, on The Feeble Files, hope it worthy :). Thanks again. Ben j min 13:16, 15 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Dave

He is gay though, he's well gay.

Edit

Hi James, thanks for looking at my article! It's great to be able to put something onto Wikipedia rather than just reading it all the time :)

When I was uploading the screenshot my internet connection was being a bit funny and I seem to have uploaded two copies of it. I've looked but can't seem to find how to delete a file. Do you know how to? Ben j min 19:13, 15 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for the welcome, this is a new experience for me - I've used forums but Wiki seems like a whole new level. I may not contribute much but I think the idea's great.

ww1 editing problems

I saw the WWI page and in one paragraph, the content was modified so that very sexual content was put into the page.

Ie: Historians and scholars have been sucking a shemale's dick for over half a century...

it goes on. I tried editing the page, but I don't know enough to edit, and whenever I hit any button on the text boxes it just scrolls the text up to the top and doesn't let me edit.

I think it should be fixed up asap=)

My Welcoming Style

Yeah, I use two or three tabs open in Firefox and just go nuts. I assume it'd be even quicker if I used AWB, but for some reason, that feels analogous to the Steroids situation in Major League Baseball these days. In any case, i'm glad we've got you on the welcoming team. I'm going to try for my 3,000th sometime this weekend. Karmafist 20:05, 18 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Bias

Hello i m a newbie in wiki. How can we understand bias within the articles and be 100% that it is bias. This will help me edit articles where i see a 1-way point of view. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Swang (talkcontribs)

Hello Mr James....

I..err..actually don't know what to say....but your site is the planet of history itself!

Actually, i am a long time reader, and i love to read about history or just save whatever information in my head, because i have a very strong memory of almost everything, my father was the one teaching me to read always since i was very little, and now, i can't even sleep without reading a book, but since i finished all of my books, i have your site now, where i spend hours in reading everday.

By the way, i had many articles and previews about football in many magazines in my country.

I am from Bahrain, in the Arabian gulf, but originaly half Persian, half Italian.

My knowledge is focused on Football and Music, my beloved 2 in life, i can write you official- well writin Arabic topics if you want though, due to my experience before as i mentioned by writing to some magazines.

Anyways, forgive me i know that your a very busy guy, but i just wanted to thank you about about this beautiful piece of art, this site.

Siegel / 911 Eyewitness

James

My name is Rick Siegel. Someone posted a page on me because I did a film during the 911 event in NYC. I have become the Zapruder of this century from this. My face is everywhere and fame has been thrust on me. It is not nice, cruel as it were.

The production team created the 911 Eyewitness page and started discaussion as it was suggested for deletion in less than a minute.

You can google 911 eyewitness and get 800000 entries most of which are about this film and me. with rick siegel you will get less, but most about me. I do not need this entry for anything. I want to make sure it is accurate if it is on.

If you would take the time to go to my personal site, the 911 eyewitness site and the Scholars site you will see that this historic film has taken its place. It is not a Loose Change music video tour of other researchers work, it is a 39 minutes of raw footage of the event followed by simple physics and barely any conclusions - we leave that to the viewer. It has already won awards in only 3 months. This spring and summer I am doing radio and TV all over the country. April 10 I do start with the Coast to Coast radio show. Please read the comments already on this and help?

Mabey you can change the page to read Rick Siegel instead of Rick siegel?

Cheers Rick — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ricksiegel (talkcontribs)

WikiProject Elizabethan Theatre

Greetings! I first wanted to say, good work on Portal:Shakespeare! It looks very nice! Since you created it, I thought I would include you in this:

If you haven't noticed, I've been trying to push WikiProject Theatre a bit. Someone on the talk page noted that the project is really very large and I agree. So in order to break up some of the work and concentrate it, I have decided to break up WikiProject Theatre into a series of smaller theatre projects. The first of these is WikiProject Elizbethan theatre. This project, spanning the 84 years between the beginning of Elizabeth I's reign to 1642 when the Puritans closed the theatres, covers such names as Shakespeare, Christopher Marlowe and Ben Jonson. It aims to expand Wikipedia's coverage of the Elizabethan theatre as well as bringing the articles up to a high level of quality (close to or attaining FA status).

This project has not actually been launched as an official project yet, but the 2 main pages have been created on subpages of WikiProject Theatre and can be viewed here. I would like to get some feedback and suggestions before I officially launch the project. Please feel free to become a member of the project if you'd like. Please leave any messages regarding this here and I will watch your page. Thanks! *Exeunt* Ganymead | Dialogue? 20:40, 23 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

sorry

im sorry for the problems i was just testing.

Esperanza Newsletter, Issue #1

Reach out is a program aimed at allowing users to bring issues that they have had in Wikipedia to a listening, sympathetic and caring audience:
"No one can know how we feel if we do not say. We cannot expect to get understanding if we do not ask for it. No one will dispute that sometimes life's issues are too much for one person. It is fair to say that sometimes Wikipedia's problems fall under the same heading. This is a place where you can bring the bruises that can sometimes be got on this project for attention."
The Stress alerts program aims at identifying users who are stressed, alerting the community of thier stress and works in tandem with the Stressbusters at trying to identify causes of stress and eliminating them.
Note from the editor
Welcome to this new format of the Esperanza Newsletter, which came about during the last Advisory Council meeting - we hope you like it! The major changes are that each month, right after the Council meeting, this will be sent out and will include two featured programs and a sum up of the meeting. Also, it will be signed by all of the Advisory Council members, not just Celestianpower. Have an Esperanzial end of March, everyone!
  1. Future meetings are to be held monthly, not fortnightly as before.
  2. Bans and Access level changes (apart from autovoice) in the IRC channel are to be reported at the new log.
  3. In the IRC channel, there is going to be only one bot at a time.
  4. The charter requires members to have 150 edits and 2 weeks editing. Why this is the case will be clarified.
  5. A new Code of Conduct will be drafted by JoanneB and proposed to the Esperanza community.
  6. The NPA reform idea is to be dropped officially.
  7. Charter ammendments are to be discussed in future, not voted on.
  8. The Advisory Council is not going to be proposed to be expanded by the Advisory Council themselves, if others want to propose it, they will listen.

Subst:

When using template tags on talk pages, don't forget to substitute with text by adding subst: to the template tag. For example, use {{subst:test}} instead of {{test}}. This reduces server load and prevents accidental blanking of the template.

This includes templates in your own user space. Thanks! ➨ REDVERS 19:01, 27 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Alkebulan

I was surprised when i was looking for info for my African American history class that there was nothing about Alkebulan which is the ancient ol' skool word for Africa. I needed to find that out and i obtained the info from Highbeam Research Library. Just thought you might like to know so it can be included in case anyone else wants to know.Ogsinamyn 18:39, 29 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your welcome message

Very nice... but a bit broken. No one can post after your welcome message - your "Click here to reply" box is put over the the next message. ➨ REDVERS 20:15, 29 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've corrected it for you. Hope you don't mind! BTW - you're being very indiscriminate in your welcoming. It's nice, but you've welcomed people who are clearly vandalising and/or have offensive usernames. Nothing to stop you, but it's just a bit weird. Are you going from the New Users log? It's better to do it from the New Pages and Recent Changes logs and just welcome those with at least one edit. ➨ REDVERS 20:29, 29 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well, it's a nice theory (and a nice gesture). But I reckon it'll backfire on you. You'll draw the vandals like magnets to your user and talk pages. You'll get the certifiable and the clueless asking for you to do their homework and where they can post their letter to Tony Blair. You'll also get peeved admins wanting to know why you welcomed someone with a name like Quit blocking people, that's disrespectful and There's no such thing as an inappropriate username who are only here to WP:POINT themselves back out the door. But, as I say, it's up to you. I don't mind what you do... it's just a bit weird, that's all. But nicely so! :o) ➨ REDVERS 20:42, 29 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
