Hans Krieger studied Germanic and Romance Studies in Frankfurt, Munich and Dijon. He was cultural editor from 1963 to 1998 and director of the arts section of the Bavarian State newspaper. Krieger wrote poetry, essays, cultural criticism, theater and art reviews, book translations from French and taught theatre criticism at the [[University of Munich]]. Hans Krieger (born 13 March 1933 in Frankfurt am Main) is a German poet, essayist, writer, journalist, author and broadcaster. He lives and works in Munich.

Life

Hans Krieger studied Germanic and Romance Studies in Frankfurt, Munich and Dijon. He was cultural editor from 1963 to 1998 and director of the arts section of the Bavarian State newspaper. Krieger wrote poetry, essays, cultural criticism, theater and art reviews, book translations from French and taught theatre criticism at the University of Munich. He has authored numerous papers and radio journalism for Bavarian Radio and literary and nonfiction reviews etc. in the Bavarian state newspaper, Die Zeit,[1] and the Süddeutsche Zeitung. Krieger was president of the Foundation for the Advancement of Literature, Munich.

Topics are among others the eradication of the Indians, slavery and the wars of the 20th century, summarized by a review in the Nürnberger Nachrichten as "Die dunkle Seite der politischen US-Seele" (The dark side of the political US-soul).[3]
