Welcome!

Hello Draeco, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, please be sure to sign your name on Talk and vote pages using four tildes (~~~~) to produce your name and the current date, or three tildes (~~~) for just your name. Image copyrights

Draeco, thank you for your effort in uploading images and providing their sources. However, most of the images you have posted are copyright violations because Wikipedia does not have a license to use the image. See Wikipedia:Copyrights. Because of this, I am listing the images on Wikipedia:Copyright Problems and they will probably be deleted.

Also, there are several images you have uploaded that do not have an appropriate copyright license tag. Please provide information on the sources and licenses of these images:

Thanks. --ChrisRuvolo (t) 19:44, 2 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I drew the inflorescences picture myself and grant Wikipedia the right to employ the image in any capacity. As for the other three images, I simply googled them back before I understood the copyright issues involved. They are probably not permissable. Draeco 13:05, 8 Septermper 2005 (UTC)
Draeco, thanks for your contribution for Image:Inflorescences.JPG. Please select a copyright license tag for its use in Wikipedia. Please note that for Wikipedia to include your image, it must be licensed in a manner that is compatible with the Wikipedia copyright. Saying that Wikipedia has a license to use the image is not sufficient. Please select either a public domain license or one of the Free licenses. Wikipedia uses {{GFDL}} by default. Thanks. --ChrisRuvolo (t) 21:09, 16 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]
An image or media file that you uploaded, Image:Kentucky wisteria.JPG, has been listed at Wikipedia:Images and media for deletion. Please look there to see why this is (you may have to search for the title of the image to find its entry), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you.

Translation

Thanks for translating Coat of Arms of Tuxtla Gutiérrez. --Revolución (talk) 20:36, 5 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for Welcoming

  • Thanks. I appreciate that. I also thought that was pretty cool that I could understand that part at the right of your page (Este usario puede contrubir...). I'm only in Spanish II, but I still thought that was cool. Thanks for welcoming me. Oh. Check out the page I made Elefantes. - schyler 08:06, 27 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  • Thanks for the links and for the welcome. I am an avid user of the encyclopedia and have always wondered if I could do anything to help this great "community," yet I didn't know how. It was by chance that I stumbled upon the article about "Provincia de Santiago," and since I come from Chile, I took that as a sign. :D Thank you once again and I will read carefully the instructions you left - MilkyWei 23:15, 28 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  • Thank you for the message! I am just trying to figure out the inner workings of this site and I admit I'm new, but some of my attempts to just learn have been met with slight hostility. I appreciate your support. Thanks Again --Flypanam 01:17, 20 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  • Thanks for the welcome, but perhaps I should be welcoming you instead of the other way around — I've been contributing to Wikipedia off and on since 2001, although I usually haven't bothered to sign in, and I've had years-long dry spells. Thank you very much for the pointers to important newcomer material, though — some of it is stuff I haven't read. Happy solstice! -- Kragen Sitaker 22:04, 21 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
  • Thank you very much, Draeco :) -- ISAMU (talk • contribs) 13:35, 18 January 2006
  • My thanks to you also, I have been floating around for a while now making minor gramatical corrections, etc, but never created an account until now. A very positive and welcoming act, much appreciated! Mysitced 21:09, 28 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]
  • Thanks for the welcome note. I found the Babel through your user site, great idea. I don't know if it's okay for a newcomer like me to add stubs and categories, but I've done so anyway (Denmark-band-stub, amongst others). Hope they're formatted well enough. Thanks again! zanzer7 23:10, 13 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Schyler's questions

Schyler awards WikiThanks to Draeco for all his help with starting on Wikipedia.

Creating New Templates?

How do you make templates like the language ones where it's colored and boxed in. When I try to, all it is is text.schyler 21:14, 8 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry to bother you again but I can't figure out how to fix my user page. schyler 23:30, 8 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Right now I have a "released into public domain" thing up on my page. I was wanting to post some of my "quickwrites" I have done in english class because some of them are kind of funny. I haven't yet because I don't want anyone to use my work for themselves. I obviously don't have a copyright on these though. Is it just not appropriate for Wikipedia to have stuff up I don't want others to copy, or is there a thing I can put up that says don't use my stuff.schyler 02:20, 15 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Linking to a section

I have links to pages i have made a considerable addition to, but I don't want to link someone viewing my page to the whole article, I want to link them to that section I added. Like on Madness Combat, I added the section amatuer madness. I want someone linked directly there. How do I do this? schyler 02:58, 11 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hip-Hop history

I would like to introduce myself and say hello. I apologize for my typos. I feel that the Hip-Hop History section of Wikipedia has left out a lot of significant material, and have worked endlessly on it. If you see any grammatical or spelling typos, by all means, please feel free to correct them! Thanks

Hello, You helped me a while ago, and I was wondering if there's any sort of bias check for editors. I found an article that i believe is noteworthy enough to keep on wikipedia but it's AfD page appears to have many votes by editors who are strongly biased just because it is on the subject of Star Trek and is borderline notable (Timothy W. Lynch), it recieves comments such as "...the content is so embarassing that I can't figure out what the fellow was thinking when he wrote it. Anyway, AfD will do him a favour and send it to the trash before he Galloways himself further" when the article was not vanity, while the editor who nominated it for deletion did so without even mentioning any of the facts and dismissed the whole thing as vandalism based on ONE act of vandalism by some unregistered clown taking off the questionable notability sign as vandalism. Do you have any thought on it? You have been really fair in judgement before, and have helped me, and seem like a very experienced user. Flypanam 02:47, 26 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

thank you!

Thank you for your honest opinion on the Timothy W. Lynch article. It seems as though some editors on here can be quite biased and even outright malicious at times. I think I'm mostly getting the hang of this site now :] Flypanam 03:51, 26 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cleanup Taskforce

I added Bosnian War to your desk at User:Draeco/Desk, just so it is official. Thank you for volunteering. You already had Algebraic syntax on your desk. Have made any progress or would you like to pass it to another member of the task force?

Your desk is missing the standard heading about your interests (areas of expertise) and max number of assignments you would like. Would you like me to find the template for you? RJFJR 22:11, 29 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I added the heading from my desk. Yours list an interest in history instread of CS, I left Physical sciences, you can adjust it. Queue size (max articles you feel comfortable working on at once) is currently 4.
I also added Tanaka Giichi as a history article (Japanese politician). I removed Algebraic syntax. And I fixed soem syntax errors when you filled in your interests (you copied a line that had a mistake it is user: not username: it's fixed). RJFJR 23:05, 29 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Closure procedure is described on Wikipedia:Cleanup Taskforce, you make a note on the taskforce subpage, change the template on the articles talk page to say closed (it's actually a different template), remove the entry from the taskforce page's list of things to do and add it to the list of closed projects. Using templates

Hi Draeco. Thanks for your welcome. I am trying to track down a page with a list of templates for saying things like, "This is a stub," "This article needs clean-up," "This writer needs help with his/her English," etc. I'm sure I found one once, because I've used a couple of these in my anonymous days, but haven't managed to find it again. Is there something glaringly obvious I've missed (that happens to me quite often), or do Wiki need to make the path a little more user-friendly? Cheers—Copey 2 02:53, 10 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Q: Whom do I contact about a suspicious article?

Recently found an article called S.P.A.A.R.T.I.. I suspect it's orginal research or someone's orginal creation that is not notable or canon in any series. Did a Google search, and discovered that Star Wars uses the term Spaarti as well, but does not match the information in the article.

What should I do about this article? I put up a request for source verification, but that's it. --Eldarone 05:39, 25 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Cleanup Taskforce

Rise of Sweden as a Great Power has been added to your desk. Please look at or pass it on. RJFJR 14:24, 28 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

Thanks for the welcome. I will try to nominate some of the articles I have done, which are usually quite localist and have no english equivalent. Cheers, --Ecelan 21:32, 7 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, need some help.

Oh and also a thanks for the welcome from me :) You said if I needed help I could ask you so here is my problem. I tried making a redirect for the RF Generation page but I can't seem to get it to work the way other redirects do. I can't figure out what I could possibly be doing wrong either. It is only 1 line of text after all. In anycase this is the page I was trying to redirect from RFGeneration. Thanks in advance, Izret101 23:15 12, March 2006 (UTC)

Strange... I am not experianceing the problem anymore... for some reason it originally brought me to the page stating it was a redirect page. Oh well at least I can be reassured that I didn't mess up one short line of simple coding. Izret101 23:18 12, March 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for the explanation

Thanks for taking time to explain how things work here. In particular, your comments and suggestions about my submission were very helpful, written in plain enough language for me to figure out. I must confess that I understand little of the overall Wiki philosophy and protocol. So I'll spend some time looking and reading before I try to post again. Thanks again for your help. Question here

Is there a way to track user contributions of another user?

A Question

When users "revert to previous version made by blahblah123" is there an easier way to do that other than looking through both versions and editing out the false info? Code E 22:33, 27 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]
