Daphne Nur Oz (born February 17, 1986) is an author and television host. On April 14, 2011, ABC announced Oz would be one of five co-hosts on The Chew, a one-hour live talk show exploring food from all angles.[1] The show premiered in September 2011.
Early Life and Education
Oz, the eldest child of Dr. Mehmet Oz and Lisa Oz, co-authors of the #1 New York Times bestselling book "You: The Owner's Manual," [2] was born in Philadelphia, PA. Raised in Cliffside Park, New Jersey, she graduated from Dwight-Englewood School in 2004 and from Princeton University in 2008.[3] While at college, Oz penned her national bestseller, "The Dorm Room Diet" (Newmarket Press, 2006), to document her successful approach to avoiding the "Freshman 15" without sacrificing any of the wonderful experiences college has to offer.[4] The book aims to encourage students to see their time on campus as an opportunity to develop healthy, adult habits that will last them a lifetime.[5] The healthy lifestyle advocated by Oz, combined with the unique perspective she offered writing for college students as a current student herself, earned her and her book features in The New York Times,[3] The Wall Street Journal,[6] People, The Washington Post[7] Reader's Digest,[8] Teen Vogue, Cosmo Girl! and Seventeen. Oz and her book also made appearances on Good Morning America, Fox & Friends, The Dr. Oz Show, The Nate Berkus Show, The Tyra Banks Show, and NPR's Weekend Edition.[9]
Television
Oz is one of five co-hosts on ABC's The Chew.
Oz was featured as a guest co-host on The View, and has appeared as a healthy living expert on Good Morning America, Fox & Friends, The Dr. Oz Show, The Nate Berkus Show, The Tyra Banks Show, LXNY, Dayside, Good Day New York, The Geraldo Rivera Show, KTLA Morning News, and Fox Chicago News at Noon.[9]
Author
Oz is the author of the national bestseller The Dorm Room Diet (Newmarket Press, 2006) and The Dorm Room Diet Planner (Newmarket Press, 2007). The Dorm Room Diet was re-published in 2010 to include a chapter of healthy recipes that could be made on college campuses, as well as a new chapter on food politics in America and the consumer's role in promoting an environment where a healthy lifestyle is the easy, accessible and affordable choice. She has also written articles for Glamour Magazine,[10] Oprah.com,[11] and The Huffington Post.[12]
In 2011, Oz launched a syndicated column covering health, relationship, and lifestyle advice with Creators Syndicate. Oz's column, entitled "Food for Thought," debuted nationally in June 2011.[13]
Public Speaking
Oz speaks about health, wellness, and lifestyle issues, conscious cooking, and consumer education and empowerment, with a particular emphasis on encouraging practical steps towards better living.[14]
In 2008, Oz was invited to speak at Maria Shriver's The Governor's Women's Conference.[15] Oz was also a featured speaker at The Aspen Institute's 2009 Aspen Health Forum.[16] In 2011, Oz and her mother, Lisa, were the featured speakers at WCBS Radio's Working Women's Luncheon.[17] Oz has delivered addresses to campus audiences across the country including Princeton University, University of Pennsylvania, Brown University, and Georgetown University.
Non-Profit Work
