This sentence in the initial paragraph seems really disjointed from the rest of the paragraph: "The mitochondrial genome has been sequenced.[3][4]"

Any one have a clue as to why it is even in that paragraph? I can not tell from reading just the first paragraph. It may be referenced below the 1stP. but this confusion made me stop.

Just thought I would leave a note. Hopefully someone will be able to clear this up for future readers.

mitochondrial?

This sentence in the initial paragraph seems really disjointed from the rest of the paragraph: "The mitochondrial genome has been sequenced.[3][4]"

Any one have a clue as to why it is even in that paragraph? I can not tell from reading just the first paragraph. It may be referenced below the 1stP. but this confusion made me stop.

Just thought I would leave a note. Hopefully someone will be able to clear this up for future readers.
