Untitled

Easy is the second studio album released by Australian rock band Grinspoon. The album was released in September 1999, debuting at #4 on the Australian album charts [1]and eventually achieving platinum sales in Australia.[2].

Work on the album commenced in August 1999 with producer Jonathan Burnside (Nirvana, Melvins, Depeche Mode, Meat Beat Manifesto). The album was recorded in Sydney and mixed in Melbourne. The first single "Ready 1" included three non-album tracks and a CD-ROM component and reached #36 on the Australian singles chart. The initial release of the album included a bonus disc containing 11 live tracks from the band's New Years Eve perfomance at the 1998 Falls Festival.

Four singles were released from the album, "Ready 1", "Rock Show", "Secrets" and "Violent and Lazy". "Violent and Lazy" was the only single not chosen to appear on Grinspoon's 2005 compilation album Best in Show.

The album received two nominations at the Aria Awards in 2000, 'Best Rock Album' and 'Engineer of the Year'.[3]

Reception

Easy gained positive reviews from outlets such as Sputnik Media to Rolling Stone Australia.[citation needed] According to the Worldwide Home of Australasian Music and More Online (WHAMMO), Easy "finds [Grinspoon] in great grungy form with such tracks as 'American Party Bomb', 'Undercover', 'Secrets' and the excellent 'Ordinary' — a word which has nothing to do with this disc".[4]
