Institute of Hotel Management Catering & Nutrition (IHM), Pusa, New Delhi, generally known as IHM Pusa, is an hospitality educational institute in India. IHM Pusa is situated in Pusa Institutional Area, New Delhi. The Institute is governed by the National Council for Hotel Management & Catering Technology[1] setup by the Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India. It is the first & only Hotel Management institute in India to be HACCP approved.[2]

History

This Institute was the first Government College to start in 1962 under the Ministry of food. It started in abandoned barracks behind present employment exchange building.

Programs

The institute offers the following programs of study:

  • M. Sc. In Hospitality Administration. This degree is awarded by IGNOU[3]
  • M.Sc. In Dietetics and Hospital Food Service.
  • B.Sc. (Hospitality & Administration). This degree is awarded by IGNOU
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Accommodation Operation & Management (PGDAO).
  • Diploma in Food & Beverages Service (DF&BS).
  • Diploma in Bakery & Confectionery (DB&C).
  • Craftsmanship Course in Food Production & Patisserie.

Industrial Training

The students in various courses have undergo a 6 months industrial training at a hotel, during their program of study, to get a feel of how the industry functions.

Infrastructure

IHM Pusa has several kitchens, bakeries, a training restaurant, housekeeping and front office labs and classes for teaching theory and practical subjects at various levels.

Institute's Anthem

The institute has not adopted any Anthem on formal basis.

Though on the ground level a traditionally popular song called as 'Pusa Call' is sung after every un-official ceremony amongst the Pusaites(Term given to students of IHM Pusa). Pusa Call is believed to be nothing less than 20 years. Due to the use of its indecent vocabulary, Pusa call has been banned by the institute's management.
