Springfield Armory, Inc. is a firearms manufacturer based in Geneseo, Illinois.
Formation
In 1974, the Springfield Armory brand name was purchased by Robert Reese, who formed a new company to manufacture semi-automatic versions of the M14 rifle. This company, now owned and run by Reese's sons, manufactures a wide array of firearms under the Springfield Armory name. However, the company is not located near the former armory site; it is now located in Geneseo, Illinois.
Products
The company manufactures the XD pistol series, M1911 clones, and the M14-based M1A Rifle series.
Rob Leatham has been the captain of Team Springfield, the practical shooting team, since its inception in 1985.
