GA Review of Tom Luckey
I've started the review: Talk:Tom Luckey/GA1. INeverCry 19:48, 8 July 2012 (UTC)
- Thank you, and I'll give my feedback there. Dori ☾Talk ⁘ Contribs☽ 06:11, 9 July 2012 (UTC)
- I've put the article on hold, which gives you a week to make improvements, etc. Overall, the article leaves me with alot of questions, about Luckey's bio/family details, his business, the documentary, etc. INeverCry 07:57, 11 July 2012 (UTC)
- Approx. a day after posting the notice saying I had a week, the editor changed the status from on hold to declined—so I never had a chance to update it to see if it could meet the standards. Dori ☾Talk ⁘ Contribs☽ 20:28, 13 July 2012 (UTC)
- After looking the article over again, I felt that the work needed was too significant to be done in just a few days. I didn't mean to discourage you, Dori, and I'm sure you'll be able to re-nominate this at some point. I just didn't want you to feel like you had to rush your work; I think it's better for the article now that you're able to take your time and not worry about a deadline. It may take a few minutes from the time the email is sent for it to show up in your inbox. You can {{You've got mail}} or {{ygm}} template.— at any time by removing the Aamakarov (talk) 16:46, 10 July 2012 (UTC)
- As mentioned in the header above, please don't take it personally, but I rarely respond to off-wiki communications about WP. Dori ☾Talk ⁘ Contribs☽ 20:28, 13 July 2012 (UTC)
Why blank something for copyvios and then nominate it as having no content? It had no content because you removed it all--tagging it for a copyvio would have been more appropriate. Thank you. Drmies (talk) 05:44, 13 July 2012 (UTC)
- I did tag it to be deleted for copyvio, and then you removed it the CSD. I'm pretty hardcore about copyright violations, so I manually removed all the copyrighted info. That left nothing whatsoever, so I then tagged it as blank. Why you removed the
{{db-g12}}
without doing anything about the problem, I don't know. Dori ☾Talk ⁘ Contribs☽ 20:28, 13 July 2012 (UTC)- I went and looked, and when I looked at it the first time I must have only seen the G11 note, not the G12. I denied the G11 part but didn't see the rest. Sorry. Drmies (talk) 03:16, 14 July 2012 (UTC)
Removal of Malcolm Mejin
Hello, I am the page maintenance person for the Wikipedia entry Malcolm Mejin. There is a proposal to remove the page, even though it is substantiated with references and links and some verifiable sources, with NST (a reputable online newspaper) as a back-up. I wouldn't agree to this removal, unless there is completely no source to back it up. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 118.101.17.112 (talk) 08:14, 13 July 2012 (UTC)
- Are you affiliated with Malcolm Mejin? If so, I strongly recommend that you read User:DoriSmith/onCOI. Best practices on WP say that you shouldn't edit the page at all if you have a COI. And whether you have a COI or not, you shouldn't remove maintenance templates without even trying to fix the underlying issues. Please stop vandalizing the article. Twinkle
You didn't really mean to check nigh on every checkbox in Twinkle, did you? ☺ I count 23 cleanup categories. Some adjustment to this notice is surely required. Uncle G (talk) 08:40, 13 July 2012 (UTC)
- OTOH, a number of the tags I gave it generate multiple categories (13 tags → 23 cats). Personally, I don't think articles need to be in both Category:Orphaned articles from July 2012 and Category:All orphaned articles, but that's just my opinion. Anyhow, I've cut it down some, and I hope that it now meets with your approval. Dori ☾Talk ⁘ Contribs☽ 20:28, 13 July 2012 (UTC)
- I wondered whether you'd accidentally hit "select all" or something. ☺ Uncle G (talk) 21:37, 13 July 2012 (UTC)

- Because you did not actually start. You created an empty article with no content in it at all. Don't do that. Don't hit save until you have a good, verifiable, stub that has context. And remember to log-in as nflemin2 (talk · contribs). Because you didn't here, it took some detective work to figure out what you were even on about. Uncle G (talk) 22:48, 13 July 2012 (UTC)
- I'm assuming that this is in relation to Critical Cataloger—am I correct? If so, the entire contents of the article was:
Critical Cataloger
This Page is Under Construction
See also Critical Librarian
Just because you're creating an article for a class doesn't mean that the article doesn't have to abide by Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and this one didn't.
Based on your edit history, it's clear that you know how to edit in your sandbox—do that, and then move it into mainspace when it's ready to be seen by the public. Dori ☾Talk ⁘ Contribs☽ 23:18, 13 July 2012 (UTC)

Drowning Link
Why did you remove the external link to Dr. James Lowson's description in the 1892 Edinburgh Medical Journal of his personal experience drowning? Why you consider that a conflict of interest? I don't treat people and there is no advertising on the site.
As a medical doctor who experienced first hand the effects of drowning, I think his perspective is valuable and of aid to both the people who experience drowning first hand and those who treat them.
Also as a fairly new contributor to Wikipedia perhaps you can guide me.

- I didn't so much remove the external link to "Dr. James Lowson's description in the 1892 Edinburgh Medical Journal of his personal experience drowning" so much as I removed the external link you added to your blog. See WP:External links for more information. Dori ☾Talk ⁘ Contribs☽ 02:21, 15 July 2012 (UTC)
The article List of serving utensils has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Not really needed on Wikipedia
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Mdann52 (talk) 16:27, 15 July 2012 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of List of serving utensils
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on List of serving utensils requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Mdann52 (talk) 10:10, 16 July 2012 (UTC)
