Introduction
The aim of WikiProject Fictional Series is to agree on a way of describing fictional (i.e. novels, television or movie) series in a way that provides the best WikiExperience for all. No specific recommendations or templates have been evolved yet; this page is currently just for discussion on this subject.
Scope
This WikiProject aims to organise information in fictional series, such as The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Harry Potter, Star Wars, etc. For instance, Harry Potter refers to both a series of books by J. K. Rowling as well as a character in that series. Further confusion results when we consider The Hitchhiker's Guide, as this is simulataneously a series, a specific book in the series, as well as an entity in the fictional universe of the series.
Further, we may look at the fact that a series - particularly if written as a saga, such as Star Trek or The Lord of the Rings - is much more likely to build up a large number of characters, some of whom (eg. Mr. Spock) might become famous outside of their fictional universes. We should also look at how such information might be organised.
Parentage
The parent of this WikiProject is the WikiProject Novels, as it is not clear whether movie series (which rarely exceed three movies) need further organisation. We may move to Arts and Humanities if the need arises.

An important note for everyone to remember:
A few Wikipedians have gotten together to make some suggestions about how we might organize data in articles about Fictional Series. These are only suggestions, things to give you focus and to get you going, and you shouldn't feel obligated in the least to follow them. But if you don't know what to write or where to begin, following the below guidelines may be helpful. Mainly, we just want you to write articles!
