Lito Cabacungan Tangonan (born 1957) is the first presiding Bishop of Ang Iglesia Metodista sa Pilipinas consecrated March 17, 2012.[1] He was born February 10, 1957 in San Mateo, Isabela, Philippines, married to Jeanne Grace Domingo Tangonan, a Certified Public Accountant with their only child, Kerussein Shalom Domingo Tangonan, a psychologist. He was the former Bishop of the United Methodist Church assigned at Manila Episcopal Area[2][3] since 2008 before leading an autonomous church in 2010 together with the founding teams.
He became one of the members of ex-officio board of trustees of Harris Memorial College.[4]

Ecumenical Trainings, Exposures and Involvements
Lito Tangonan participated in Muslim-Christian Dialogue in Mindanao[6] in Summer 1985. He began a rural church work in Nagrangtayan UMC, Sanches Mira, Cagayan on Summer 1986 at the same time a part-time professor in Christian Ethics and Bible Subject, Philippine Christian University, Taft, Manila Campus, SY 1986-1987. He became District Governor, Metro-Manila Regional Ecumenical Conference, District 1 (CaMaNaVa), 1990-1992. He received special training for the Philippine Ministers for Church Growth and World Mission, Maranatha Mission Center, Kaytikling, Taytay, Rizal, July 2–19, 1991 and Seminar on Prayer, Union Center for World Mission, Koramphil Theological Seminary, Molino, Cavite, January 13–16, 1992 He presided as Board Chairman of Navotas Out-of-School Youth Center, Navotas, Metro-Manila, 1992–1993 and Alay Sa Musmos Day Care Center, Navotas, Metro-Manila, 1993-1994. He was one of the organizers of CaMaNaVa (Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, Valenzuela) United Christian Multi-Purpose Cooperative, 1993. He also received missionary training and exposure for Church Growth and World Mission, South Korea, November 7–20, 1992 and May 1994 and became lifetime member of Philippine Bible Society in 1994. He co-founded the Quezon City Pastoral Movement in 1995. He received Haggai Institute for Advanced Leadership Training, CEC, UP, Los Banos, Laguna in November 14–19, 1998 and exposure in Denmark and Sweden in May 2000. He became auditor (2001–2002) and vice president (2002–2003) of Metro-Manila Regional Ecumenical Conference. He also presided as board chairman of Tala Center for Human Development, Tala UMC, Caloocan City, Metro-Manila, 2001–2003 and board member (2001–present) and vice chairman (2006-) of Ecumenical Broadcasting System Foundation, Philippines.
He became a steering committee Member of NCCP-CBCP Ecumenical Week of Prayer for Christian Unity in 2001 to the present and homeroom president of Parents-Teacher Community Association (SY 2003-2004) and President/Chairman of the Executive Board, General Parents-Teachers Community Association (SY 2004–present) of Don Alejandro Roces, Sr. Science-Technology High School, Roxas District, Quezon City, Metro-Manila. He participated to several Ecumenical Theological Discussions, Dialogues, Seminar Workshops, Consultations and Conferences and became executive director for Internal Office, Professional Federation of Educators and Social Scientists for Order and Reforms in our Society, Incorporated (ProFESSORS, Inc.) in 2007. He became member of Ecumenical Bishops Forum (EBF) in 2009.
Ang Iglesia Metodista sa Pilipinas
Lito Tangonan has become consistent and active advocate for the outright autonomy of The United Methodist Church in the Philippines. He was suspended nine times in different cases, allegedly because he had an affair with a lay member, but some believed that his suspensions were related to his move. In 2010, a decisive move begun a new Methodist church independence movement that led to the establishment of Ang Iglesia Metodista sa Pilipinas.[7] He became one of the incorporators as the church earned recognition from the Philippine government through Securities and Exchange Commission. He was consecrated as the First Bishop of Ang Iglesia Metodista sa Pilipinas last March 17, 2012 in Luacan Methodist Church Inc., Luacan, Dinalupihan, Bataan.
