Meez is a website where people can create customized 3D avatars that animate. Users personalize their Meez avatar by choosing from a selection of free clothing, hairstyles, tattoos, accessories, backgrounds and fun animations that enable them to express how they wish to be seen online. Once completed, Meez avatars can be used as personal identifiers all over the Internet: on personal profiles at social media sites, as IM icons, on blogs, etc.
For users, Meez avatars are a way to visually express what they're passionate about. For example, for sports fans, Meez has recently signed agreements with Major League Baseball and The National Hockey League to provide virtual sports merchandise. So a fan of the San Francisco Giants can dress their Meez avatar in a Giants jersey.
Meez is entirely browser-based, with no need to download additional client software, and it works on Windows, Macintosh and Linux PCs.
Meez was developed by Donnerwood Media, an online entertainment company based in San Francisco.
