Scientific library of the Ternopil National Economic University

The Scientific library of the Ternopil National Economic University is the main university library of the Ternopil National Economic University in Ternopil, Ukraine.

History

The Library development is inextricably connected with the University history that started in 1966 when the economic and financial department of the Kyiv Institute of National Economy was opened.

The name changes:

Year 1994 – Library of the Ternopil Academy of National Economy

Year 2005 – Library of the Ternopil State Economic University

Year 2006 to now – Library of the Ternopil National Economic University in different development phases.

The library today appears to be the most powerful information instance, scientific and education university center, methodical library institutional subdivision of Ternopil city. It has a regular office staff of more than 60 qualified workers.[Citation needed]

3. Informative-technical department
4. Service department (3 delivery desks, 10 reading rooms)

Fund

The main information source of the library is the fund of the traditional paper publications: scientific and teaching, reference literature written in Ukrainian, Russian, English, German, Polish, Bulgarian and etc. languages. General library fund contains more than 500 thousand copies which includes 38 thousand periodicals. The library is given more than 30 thousand books every year. Thanks to the operations analysis, diligent and persistent work of the acquisition and scientific treatment department was founded both high-qualified and well-balanced fund.

Information and reference

There are the traditional and the E-catalog system searching which allows you to find all you need at the shortest time. Having put into operation innovative library technologies led the Informative-bibliographic servicing to perfection. First of all it becomes more operative and accessible. Due to the E-catalog searching you can find all necessary information otherwise it combines either thematic, alphabetical thematic article catalogs. By working the «Virtual information service» (VIS) one can find all useful information without being physically present. VIS helps you to know out the references, the books, the articles and to choose the sources at the pointed theme. In making the virtual information it will be sent during 5 working days to your e-mail address (indicated in advance) in the special searching window.

Activity

The effective library work is impossible without information-analytic and scientific activity. The librarians have been creating book card-catalog collection throughout 1970. Since then the scientific work scale was meaningful widen. The leading librarians take part into different seminars, scientific confrontations, and librarianship confrontations, inform the tutors and postgraduate students in actual theme, make controlling documents and are involved with the surveys. What with the university image popularization and information users actualization the list references publication devoted to the scientific leading university scientist activity, faculties, chairs.

By using such methods we can actualize some influence onto spirituality, creativity, legal, political, ecological and labor behavior, harmonious individuality, responsible Ukrainian citizen. It can be seen different ways of library work, for example:
