McGuirk's Regiment of Mississippi Cavalry, was a Militia regiment of the Provisional Army of the Confederate States (P.A.C.S.).
History
McGuirk's Regiment was organized 9 June 1863 in the Mississippi Militia at Panola from existing companies of minute men (militia) as the Third Regiment, Mississippi State Cavalry, and assigned to the Fifth Military District, Department of Mississippi and East Louisiana. The unit was reassigned 22 October 1863 to Slemons' Brigade, Chalmers' Cavalry Command. It was reorganized in April 1864 and mustered into Confederate service 1 May 1864 as McGuirk's Regiment, Mississippi Cavalry, an element of Chalmers' Cavalry Division. The Regiment surrendered 4 May 1865 and was disbanded 12 May 1865 at Gainesville, Alabama.
