Adeyemi, the incumbernt was elected in 1968 when the last Monach of Oyo died, but due to the ongoing Civil War and Political Wranglings, his coronation was delayed and the selection process was recommenced in 1970 after the war. He won again. |

In the Yoruba language, the word 'oba' means king or ruler. It is also common for the rulers of the various Yoruba domains to have their own special titles. In Oyo, the Oba is referred to as the Alaafin.
