Can this section be edited to lessen the glorifying of "modern world of the West" and talk about the consequences of the destruction of the local economy through "forcing African men to leave their herds and their barter economy to join the cash economy of the West via wage labour." Also, who was "new elite" that "snatched control from the Iron Age monarchy"? Some citations would also be nice. I have made some additions to the main body and the end but can't dig up any citations at the mo. I can't remember the name of the pass that leads down from Masvingo to the Lowveld currently the route of the old road parallel with the new one. Anybody know? I'll come back to the text later if there are no problems with the content. My father used to own some books written by Selous and others that would give useful source material but I don't think he still has them anymore.........--AssegaiAli 21:54, 8 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The page on the pioneer column contains some weasel words.e.g. "in the area of Mashonaland which was ruled by the King by use of coercion and murderous raids involved tribute-taking and abduction of young men and women." That's not only an oversimplification, but it's a red herring and clearly weasel-worded. And again, the entire section on Consequences surely needs to have a more scholarly tone, and universal perspective?193.60.83.241 (talk) 06:59, 24 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

As far as I can make out the section in quotes is not either weasel words or vague. The language is direct. Please explain how it is a red herring or is not true.--Mountwolseley (talk) 21:47, 23 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I think the consequences section is fine. What does 'more scholarly' mean anyway? I have a feeling that saying "clearly weasel-worded" is actually using weasel words anyway so....--94.196.180.120 (talk) 08:39, 26 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Considering that there seems to be no further discussion on this matter, and support for the original criticisms seems to be lacking-I shall remove the warnings on the page.--AssegaiAli (talk) 12:46, 2 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Consequences Section
