why do soccer fans have to be so prissy about not wanting to call their game soccer? A majority of the English speaking world refers to this game as soccer, not as football. It does not matter what they call it in France and Germany and Brazil etc. Those are not English speaking countries. In the English speaking world, the majority calls the game soccer. American football fans don't try to "own" the word and disavow other ways of referring to the game. Soccer is a perfectly acceptable word, and frankly, NOBODY calls the game Association Football. Wikipedia should not be used for POV. [[Special:Contributions/68.174.97.122|68.174.97.122]] ([[User talk:68.174.97.122|talk]]) 04:29, 19 November 2013 (UTC) |

"Football (elliptical)" or "elliptical football" is a nonsense term, i.e. it is not used anywhere except here. There is therefore no need for this page and I think it should be a candidate for deletion. Grant65 (Talk) 10:35, Mar 29, 2005 (UTC)
