Simon Makienok Christoffersen (born 21 November 1990) is a Danish professional footballer who plays as a striker for the Danish Superliga side Brøndby IF. Makienok has also represented Denmark at senior and several youth levels.

Makienok joined Brøndby IF on 28 January 2012 on a €550K transfer from HB Køge, signing a 4-year contract which ties him to the club until the summer 2016. Simon was given the number 9 shirt. He made his debut on 4 March 2012, in a 1–0 win against SønderjyskE. Makienok scored his first goal for Brøndby IF 18 March 2012 in the 2–1 away win against FC Nordsjælland. Simon Makienok was rewarded with Player of the month in the Danish Superliga.

Season 2013-14

On 20 August 2013, Brøndby IF announced that they had accepted an €3.8M (DKK28.5M) offer from a Russian club on the young forward.[1] Makienok reportedly said that 'Money isn't everything' and decided to stay at Brøndby IF.[2] According to multiple Danish newspapers the forward turned down a weekly salary of €34K (€1.632K/year)[3] from the Russian club FC Terek Grozny.[4]

Simon has according to multible medias caught the attention of several French clubs [5] and the English side Crystal Palace [6] and Fulham FC during 2013. Makienok price tag is reportedly no less than €4M.[7] According to several danish medias Makienok rejected a contract extension offer due to a desire of pursue new challenges during the summer transfer window 2014.[8]

On 31 July Makienok made his Europa League debut from the starting line up in the 3-0 away defeat against the Belgium side Club Brugge.[9]

Personal life

In August 2013, Simon Makienok started dating the Danish TV-host Ibi Støving who is 16 years older than him. Ibi has a son with the former professional football-player Tobias Grahn.[11] The couple revealed on there personal blog crystalkidbabyshark.com that Makienok had poposed to Ibi on 4th april 2014. They’re now engaged to be married. [12]
