I would like to write my article on "The Sonny Comedy Revue," a TV variety show starring Sonny Bono that ran in the mid-70s. The show was created after he and his former wife, Cher, divorced and their joint variety show The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour was subsequently cancelled. @Knicoladyes: Sounds like a fantastic idea. As you probably saw, there's a subsection of the article on The Sonny & Cher Comedy Hour that talks about it (although it's really just a short paragraph). Hello there! Not 100% sure what I would like to write about but I found a stub that needs editing - Conjure One and then there is a red link for "Cocteaufest". It is an annual festival for fans of the band Cocteau Twins. I am aging myself when saying it, but this was a band I listened to in college. Festival occurs annually in different locations. @Andrew Thiessen: The Conjure One stub looks pretty developed but I'm sure you could work on if you want. You might want to take a look around to see if there is coverage of the Cocteaufest event in the media. I'm still pondering a few options, but I'm thinking of writing about The Sun Magazine. This is a relatively unknown magazine that I've been reading for more years than I'd like to admit, and there's definitely more information that could be filled in on the page. @Yoginih: The Sun Magazine sounds like a great article to expand and there's really not too much there now. One key will be doing research in the history of the magazine and finding coverage of it in other sources. Hello everyone. Charles Kiene here. Forgive the weird username--I've used it for somewhat keeping anonymity when gaming. I would like to write an article on Creepypasta. I've definitely been a fan of it for several years and know (to an extent) a lot about its origins, most prominent memes (smile.jpg, WHOWASPHONE?, etc.), and the different websites supporting creepypasta (/r/nosleep, creepypasta.wikia, MarbleHornets, etc.) Nozkrov (talk) 03:02, 2 October 2014 (UTC)

@Nozkrov: The trick, as always in Wikipedia, is to ensure that you have reliable sources to establish notability. This is always the case but in practice it's more a problem when people think that someone might be creating a "vanity" page. If the label has been covered or discussed in local or music media, you should be alright. If you can find sources to support this, might find it a little tricky. —mako๛ 21:34, 2 October 2014 (UTC)

As I said in my edit, my article will be on the internet phenomenon known as "creepypasta". No one has submitted an article on it yet, and the term has been used in the Associated Press, New York Times, Huffington Post, etc. It definitely needs its own page. My only issue right now is that it is a very ambiguous term; it is a blend of memes and urban legends and hoaxes. It is also anthropological as it bends toward cultural taboos, death, spirits, and how the modern internet user interprets the unknown. While I could certainly write a lengthy ethnography on this topic, I was thinking that the Wikipedia page should remain as concise as possible while also covering all of the various sub-types of creepypasta. Hi Mako, I am thinking about writing my article on either LAW PreDiscovery or Early Data Analyzer. These applications are used in the Electronic Discovery world mainly in legal settings. There is already an article on my current employer (LexisNexis) so I was thinking I could insert a section in there somewhere or add under "See Also." I'm just wondering how I would go about getting citations. Hello, Mako! It's Michèle and I have several ideas for my article but am not wildly enthusiastic about any of them. I could add some missing information to existing articles on (aircraft) emergency landing and water landing as family members executed both maneuvers successfully, and both events are missing from the articles. It probably isn't enough to meet the assignment objectives. I could rewrite and expand upon a very-poorly written article on fire safety. I could expand on stubs for Suquamish Tribe (unmarked as a stub, but clearly so), Eglon, Washington or Port Madison. Finally, I could write the article on my employer -- North Kitsap Fire & Rescue -- as there is none at this time. That might be a form of vanity writing since it's a part of my job to promote the department, but it might also win me some points at work. :) Thanks in advance for your input! @Mlaboda: I think you could make any of these work. Place-based stubs should be easy because there are no notability issues. I think that fixing the fire safety article would be great too. I think you could totally write an article (not just a subsection) on either emergency landing or water landing and it would be a great contribution to the encyclopedia. I agree that conflict of interest might be a concern with North Kitsap Fire & Rescue although if you make your conflict clear, it would probably work. It really depends on what you want. I you are leaning towards doing a North Kitsap Fire & Rescue, it might be good to ask User:Peaceray this about this on Monday. —mako๛ 22:48, 3 October 2014 (UTC)

After sifting through some of the stubs I found one called, Mt. Baker Legendary Banked Slalom, that I would like to write an article on. This is a local snowboard event that occurs at Mt. Baker at the end of every winter season. The event consists of huge race course filled with banked walls, jumps, and whoops, The fastest time takes the duct tape trophy and embroidered jacket home. Hello Mako, I finally came up with a topic that does not exist in Wikipedia. It is for NUMTI Dobrin Petkov, which is the National Music school of my city Plovdiv , Bulgaria . I attended this school for four years and it would mean a lot to me if I could create their own Wikipedia page. They offer different music programs and I can include them in my article. The school has a website, which I could possibly use as a source and also a lot of articles from different Bulgarian newspapers. lap91 (talk) (UTC)

@Lap91: This should work. The thing to read is Wikipedia:Notability (high schools) which explains how to establish notability for a high shcool. Many articles on high schools have been challenged on notability groups although Wikipedian's almost always decide to keep articles.

Hi Mako, I think I could finally find something to write about and it haven't exist at Wikipedia. It is the Hong Kong student Association at UW which has established for 10 years. Finding Sources

A number of you have contacted me about finding reliable sources to establish notability for your articles. References in scholarly publications or major newspapers are an excellent way to do this but, unfortunately, normal web search isn't necessarily very good at finding these.

The UW Libraries have tons of resources to help you do research. For example, they have this really great guide to finding e-newspapers. In the past, I've used LexisNexis Academic, ProQuest, and Factiva very successfuly to find descriptions of a topic published in major newspapers. Google Scholar is a great way to find scholarly work. In general, the UW libraries' page on starting your research is a good place to start. If you are getting stuck, don't hesitate to contact a reference librarian. —mako๛ 18:11, 14 October 2014 (UTC)
