The Wolseley Viper 1 was a racecar based on a Napier Chassis upon which was mounted a Wolseley Viper V8 Aero Engine. [3]The car was the brainchild of Alastair Miller who created it once Arthur John McCormack, MD at Wolseley set up a Motor Car Racing Division in 1920. The car was driven at Brooklands by Miller and a number of others from 1920 through to 1931 and won a number of B.A.R.C meetings including the 1922 and 1926 Long Handicap at speeds over 100mph.[4]
