Sense

This article makes very little sense, isn't structured or sorted into paragraphs, and reads like it was lifted from somewhere. Ich 05:29, Jul 23, 2004 (UTC)

Full of run ons, no real direction. Also personally signed by what looks like a fan. jtmendes 05:46, 4 Aug 2004 (UTC)
I completely agree with the above statements. Also a lot of the information is misleading. Being a fan myself, I feel I should correct it. First of all, AFI writes in a non-specific way intentionally, and if you believe a song is about a certain topic, rad, but that doesn't make it so. That is called an interpretation. Second, The Days of the Phoenix has absolutely nothing to do with the Catholic Church. I recall an interview with Davey speaking about how Days of the Pheonix was about the "old" days when the AFI fans were all equally dedicated. The Phoenix is one of the first theatres they played at. Please don't state your opinions in your definitions. Save that for less formal definitive sites, such as urbandictionary or psuedodictionary. Also, Davey eats refined sugar and honey. He wasn't sure if that made him vegan or not. Forgive my bitchiness, but I'm uber-anal about my AFI. d3s0lat3_fa1th310:45, Aug 14, 2004 (UTC) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.249.53.141 (talkcontribs) .

Son of Sam

Er, was Son of Sam really a Samhain TRIBUTE? That doesn't seem right. I mean, it was all original songs, and Davey wrote the lyrics... Anyone else think that should be changed? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Krys Nyteshade (talkcontribs) 13:00, 5 July 2005 (UTC)

--yeah, that doesn't seem right. I mean, two members of Samhain were in Son of Sam themselves. It was probably just a chance for the samhain/danzig guys to get away from Danzig (he's not the nicest fellow, I am told)--but I don't think that's something to say. So, son of sam is just a side-project then? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.108.120.231 (talkcontribs) 23:27, 9 August 2005 (UTC)
The songs are all original (lyrics, notes and all), that is not of relevance. It was as tribute not a cover. -- Jon Dowland 18:43, 20 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Last name

TIME OUT! Someone changed his last name. I wasn't the one who put it there, becuase I didn't know it, but someone needs to get conformation on which one is right... Please. Krys Nyteshade 02:04, 25 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

My girlfriend is a big AFI fan and she has told me again and again how the band and davey do not want his real last name revealed. She said that Davey changed it for a reason, and it shouldn't be on this site for anyone to see. AFI has tried very hard to keep his real name a secret, and I think I've heard of a court order against it. Feb. 5th 2006 —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.45.250.139 (talkcontribs) 14:14, 5 February 2006 (UTC)
Yeah, I agree with this. The name Marchand isn't his birthname. I saw an article where he revealed his real surname, but I've yet to be able to find it again. According to him, his real name is Davey Havok. I think for this reason, we should hack any other names he might have had. 01:00 (a.m.), 13 February 2006 (UTC) —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.102.119.138 (talkcontribs) 21:56, 12 February 2006 (UTC)
An Encyclopedia would have his birthname, just like this IE: Krys Nyteshade (Born Kris Yadayada). I think it should stay. However, there is still confusion over what it actually is. If anyone has a definate answer, please fix it. Thanks. ==== —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Krys Nyteshade (talkcontribs) 23:42, 16 February 2006 (UTC)

Birthname

He's birth name is David Passaro. He gets Marchand from his step-dad. I'm still not quite sure what his middle name is. I do believe it is Anthony, though.

Perhaps his real name should be changed to David Passaro Marchand? If you know his middle name for sure, you should include it.

By the way, of course his real name should stay. This is an encyclopedia, after all. It should include all verifiable information whether you want it to or not. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Sion6 (talkcontribs) 21:06, 24 February 2006 (UTC)

Davey's middle name is Lee, just in case any one wanted know, its easily accesible as his senior year book picture is all over the internet. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 74.128.203.166 (talkcontribs) 19:18, 8 June 2006 (UTC)

You should respect His wishes and not post any name but what he chooses to go by. Having his last name public leads to fans knocking on his front door and bothering his parents and family. By the way, most of your guesses are wrong. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 128.32.33.42 (talkcontribs) 12:57, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
Look if Davey wanted his real name advertised dont you think he wouldn't have changed it in the first place? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 69.29.194.157 (talkcontribs) 03:43, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

Songs that Afi is mentioned in

Whoa on the whoas. - NOFX

we never like to sing whoa's. we love whoa's. we're against whoa's. we hate whoa's. we prefer ahhhhh's and na na na na-na na's. of course yeah, yeah, yeah's are alright. between AFI and The Offspring i don't think we need anyone else to sing anymore whoa's. we hate whoa's. we're against whoa's. we hate whoa's. awwww. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 70.162.42.37 (talkcontribs) 22:23, 4 March 2006 (UTC)

Davey Pictures

PLEASE! keep up to date pictures. We want the most recent photo's of Davey. Keep this in mind for people who don't know who he is. If you must, please put pictures of early Davey in the history section. Thank you. Oh, and don't please, PLEASE CITE YOUR SOURCES! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.213.20.35 (talkcontribs) 02:44, 31 May 2006 (UTC)

Picture Change

Can we please get a new picture? That is a very old picture of Davey, and its not a very good picture anyway. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Lemonxsmoothie (talkcontribs) 15:58, 14 June 2006 (UTC)

Sexuality

Someone continuously says that Davey is openly homosexual. this is not true - there is no evidence of this. On the AFI website is says he is not gay. stop changing it! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Canucks fan1763 (talkcontribs) 20:17, 18 June 2006 (UTC)

you sound so homophobic and it doesn't say anything about hes sexuality on the afi website. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 202.7.183.132 (talkcontribs) 01:02, 24 June 2006 (UTC)
-Actually it does, and has repeatedly. Davey is straight. End of story. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 128.32.33.42 (talkcontribs) 12:55, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

Influences

shouldnt you put morrissey (the smiths) and ian curtis (joy division) as his influences. cause in the a video of the making of sing the sorrow he was complaning that he didnt have a poster of ian on the wall. also with morrissey he has quoted him when he was ask what he thought about death in one interveiw. ive seen these video on www.youtube.com. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 88.106.235.231 (talkcontribs) 20:24, 3 July 2006 (UTC)

Merge suggestion

I suggest merging Glitter boy clothing into the Glitterboy Clothing Line section, as the line was not that important to get its own article. -- ReyBrujo 05:30, 6 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. It should be merged. Dwnsjane2 00:23, 13 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
