  • Student Council Representative Committee - It is formed by the "Student Leaders". It implements the duty of supervising the works done by "Student Council Executive Committee".
  • Student Council Service Team - Assists the "Student Council Executive Committee" to carry out the charitable works of caring for the needs of underprivileged minorities within the Wanchai community.

Between September 1994 and July 2004, the "Student Council Executive Committee", "Student Council Representative Committee", "Student Council Service Team", "Rosarian Editorial Board", "House Captain Liaison Committee", "House Executive Committee" and "Sports Association" under the "Co-Curricular Activities Committee" were independent from the operations of "Discipline Team". Since September 2004, Fr. Francisco de las Heras, Principal of Secondary Section, and Mr. Jonathan Kwok Kin-kei (郭健基老師), Panel Head of Co-Curricular Activities Group, began to implement a system called "an integration among Student Council, Houses, Sports Association and Discipline Team". Members from the four Student Council units, the elected captains from the six Houses, and representatives from "Sports Association" are consistently regarded as "Student Leaders". They have to bear up with the prefect duties assigned by the "Discipline Team" while tackling with their leadership duties within the "Co-Curricular Activities Committee". Moreover, all the "Student Leaders" have to elect several "Head Prefects" under a "one man, one vote" basis.

According to the report by Rosaryhill School Old Student Association, Kelly Chen (陳慧琳), a renowned Canto-pop star in Hong Kong, was a member of the Unicorn House during her days at Rosaryhill School (Secondary Section). Kelly Chen was a member of Flower Arrangement Club and a member of School Choir at her Alma Mater.

Kelly’s Secondary School Days: Although Kelly was a member of the Unicorn House, she admits that she was not particularly active during her secondary days. Since she was not very good at sports, Kelly had never taken part in the athletic meets or other sports competitions. On the other hand, she did take part in some extra-curricular activities “I remember I had joined a flower arrangement club and Miss Amy Lo was the teacher-in-charge. I even took part in a flower arrangement competition in school once, I clearly remember after that competition when I returned home, I found that I had left my scissors in school, so I rushed back to school to look for my scissors as I knew my mom would definitely blame me for being so absent-minded if I lost my scissors.” Moreover, Kelly tells us that she had performed Chinese dance and drama in her primary and secondary days respectively.

Kelly has been recognized as a very good singer and she tells us that she has always been fond of singing; she used to be a member of the School Choir both in Hong Kong (i.e. the School Choir of Rosaryhill School) and Japan. ( — "The Rosarians": Interview with Kelly Chen)

School Song

Fairlady of the Rosary,

To Your School I come.

The seedbed of eternity,

And maker of my crown.

The seedbed of eternity,

And maker of my crown.

Forever, Rosaryhill School,

My Alma Mater true.

Radiates the Light of Truth to all,

With warmth of Love most pure.

My tender mind, my budding heart,

Need guidance to the goal.

The Truth and Love, you then impart,

To my immortal soul.

The Truth and Love, you then impart,

To my immortal soul.

Visual Arts and Music Education (For Secondary Section only)

Since the establishment of Rosaryhill School, the Visual Arts Department (formerly known as "Art Department") only allowed Form 5 students to register for the Art examinations from the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination. Since 2001, Fr. Francisco de las Heras, Principal of Secondary Section, approved the opening of Visual Arts curriculum in Form 6 and Form 7 levels. Students were then allowed to register for the Visual Arts examinations from the Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination and the Hong Kong Advanced Supplementary Level Examination. Since 2009, to keep abreast with the new 3-3-4 education system, students were allowed to register for the Visual Arts examination from the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education.

In the aspect of music education, Mr. Francis Tsung Pui-sum (叢培森先生), Principal of Secondary Section, kept abreast with the new 3-3-4 education system by opening the Music curriculum for Form 4, Form 5 and Form 6 students in 2009. Form 6 students were allowed to register for the Music examination from the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education.

According to the report by Rosaryhill School Old Student Association, Kelly Chen (陳慧琳), a renowned Canto-pop star in Hong Kong, has ever studied Art during her days at Rosaryhill School (Secondary Section). Kelly Chen stated that the heartfelt education of her Art teachers at her Alma Mater inspired her to study at Faculty of Graphics Design in Parsons School of Design in New York.

Talented artist: After Kelly left Rosaryhill, she spent three years in Japan where she completed her high school education there. Subsequently, she was admitted to the Faculty of Graphics Design in Parsons School of Design in New York. We are delighted to learn that Kelly’s interest in art started in Rosaryhill. “I already liked art very much when I was a student here. There were two art teachers who had a great deal of influence on me. Mr Tsui Yiu Cheung taught us how important it was to cut paper properly. Ms Helen Lai was my another art teacher. I remember she had given us an art assignment that required us to draw two paintings. I spent a lot of time to draw a portrait of Carina Lau, an artiste I admired a lot at that time; however, after I finished that painting, I found that I had only very little time left so I finished another one half-heartedly. Finally, I got an A for my portrait of Carina Lau and I won Miss Lai’s praises too; on the other hand, I only got a C for the other painting. Since then I realized that I did have some talents in art and my talents would be recognized by others if I made efforts to finish the task.” Now we get the clue why Kelly is always recognized to be one of the artistes who has good taste in art and fashion. According to the report by Rosaryhill School Old Student Association, Charlene Choi (蔡卓妍), a renowned Canto-pop star in Hong Kong, has ever studied Art during her days at Rosaryhill School (Secondary Section). Charlene Choi's creative expertise was "textile design".

Sitting in the room in the New Wing that was named after Charlene Choi, she shared with us how she joined Rosaryhill School. ‘I actually studied at Marymount Secondary School from Form 1 to Form 3 first before I came to Rosaryhill School to continue my secondary education. I decided to come to this school since I was not allowed to be promoted to Form 4 in Marymount because my academic results were not very satisfactory. I chose Rosaryhill School by myself after having conducted some research on different secondary schools in the district. At that time, there was a subject called ‘textile design’ that interested me and since I was always fond of art subjects, I then decided to give Rosaryhill School a try.’ ( — "The Rosarians": Interview with Charlene Choi)

Ms Lo was her class teacher and Ms Au was the teacher who taught Charlene textile and design. Charlene shared with us that she did remember the teacher in charge of discipline, Ms Elsa Tang, used to be very strict but she also could be quite friendly and approachable. Charlene said apart from the only one occasion in which she had had a verbal argument with her classmate during the class and eventually she was punished by Ms Elsa Tang to stand in the Discipline Office, she considered herself to be a well-behaved student in school.
