Good work on this article! I started it in May, 2006, because my former ship had one of them on the fantail. It sure has grown from there. Two things to keep in mind: 1) put references in where you can, and 2) don't let the article get so long that only a scholar would read it. A good way to handle length is to be sure the introductory section summarizes the stuff below. Keep up the good work. [[User:Lou Sander|Lou Sander]] 12:37, 27 August 2007 (UTC) |

Your comments
I have been hoping someone with your knowlage on fire control computers would come along and help the Iowa-class battleship articles; it seems that no matter how hard I try; I simply can't find information on the fire control systems they used, and those articles really need that help. Fire control edits
Awesome updating of the fire control section in the article, but there are no sources cited for the material you have added. Ordinarily, this would not be a problem as the articles we have don't usually have heavy citations, however Armament of the Iowa class battleship is featured, and is by definition held to a high standard than other articles here. If the information you added can't be cited then it will be removed (in a best case senario), otherwise the article runs the risk of losing its featured article status (worst case scenrio). Also, if you are interested in Wikipedia's armed service article you may want to look into jioning the Military history Wikiproject. TomStar81 (Talk) 07:20, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
- Don't worry too much about it; I have no intention of reverting you additions, they are what I have been looking for. My concern is merely over article quality, and if there are no good cites for that then I will take you on your word from past experiences. They only problem is that if/when the article ends up on FARC tha may have to be cut out to allow the retention of FA class quality. Keep up the good work though! Welcome to the Military history Wikiproject!
Hi, and welcome to the Military history WikiProject! As you may have guessed, we're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of topics related to military history.
A few features that you might find helpful:
- Our navigation box points to most of the useful pages within the project.
- The announcement and open task box is updated very frequently. You can watchlist it if you're interested; or, you can add it directly to your user page by including {{WPMILHIST Announcements}} there.
- Most important discussions take place on the project's main discussion page; it is highly recommended that you watchlist it.
- The project has several departments, which handle article quality assessment, detailed article and content review, offline publication, article improvement contests, and other tasks.
- We have a number of task forces that focus on specific topics, nations, periods, and conflicts.
- We've developed a variety of guidelines for article structure and content, template use, categorization, and other issues that you may find useful.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask one of the project coordinators, or any experienced member of the project, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing you around! TomStar81 (Talk) 21:48, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
