Dejan Židan (Pronounced: Deyan Zhidan - Dɛyan ʒidan) was born 16 October 1967 in Maribor.[1] He is currently a Slovenian politician and the leader of Social Democrats.

A veterinarian by education, Židan served as Minister of agriculture, forestry and nutrition in the years 2010-2012 in Borut Pahor's government.[1] In the 2011 parliamentary election, Židan was elected a member of the National Assembly. In 2013, Židan became a Minister of agriculture and environment in Alenka Bratušek's government.[2] In March 2014, Židan was named the most popular Slovenian politician in the public opinion poll.[3] Following the European Parliament election, Židan replaced Igor Lukšič as pro tempore president of the Social Democrats party.[4]
