Sarah Nagourney is a platinum-selling songwriter, artist development strategist, and founder of Glassbeat Music, Inc.

Background

Born in Connecticut, Sarah learned how to play the piano at the age of five. She got her start in the music industry as a teen folk singer in Connecticut. Later, she became a jazz singer while studying at Oxford University and performed at various college events. While a student at Oxford, Sarah performed regularly at the famous London restaurant, Langan's Brasserie, which was immortalized in the film: The Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover. She also performed often at the historic Blitz Club in London, which spawned many important artists, including Adam Ant and Duran Duran.

Career

Early on, Sarah was receiving stellar press reviews from such noted publications as Melody Maker, Time Out, and The Sunday Telegraph (UK),[1] while she performed in clubs and festivals in Europe and Asia. One such review by Michael James in Melody Maker stated: “The arrival of a vocalist so sensitive and intelligent an artist as Sarah Nagourney is an event well worth signalling.” [2]

After graduation and a few years in the UK, Sarah decided to move to New York City where she had a number of bands. This culminated in a record deal on Invasion Records back in the UK with her pop band, The Glass Beat Game. It was then that Sarah found her art pop voice. They released three different singles: “Pleasure,” “Do You Remember?” and “Tell Me.” The music video for “Pleasure” gained critical attention.

After a few years in the UK, she returned to New York City, signed a record deal and released a solo album with Polystar Records[[3]] (Japan) entitled The Realm of My Senses. This record featured members of Peter Gabriel’s band, including Tony Levin and Jerry Marotta. Her album acquired substantial acclaim.[4] Sarah toured extensively for The Realm of My Senses, and after a few years, she decided she wanted to focus on writing for and with other artists, switching gears from pursuing her solo career.

Songwriting

Since focusing on songwriting, Sarah has written with such diverse artists and producers as Chris Difford (Squeeze), Phil Thornalley (The Cure, Bryan Adams), Steve Booker (Duffy, Natalie Imbruglia, John Newman), Polina Goudieva (Steve Aoki, Eminem), Steve Daly (Pink, JLS) and Isaac Hasson (Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez).

Some notable releases include “Who Am I Supposed To Love” by Wynonna, released on Curb Records and "Ordinary" by Wayne Brady, released on Peak Records, among many others.[5]

Current Projects

In 2015, Sarah’s collaboration with the band Oh Honey was released. The song is entitled "A Thousand Times" on their critically acclaimed EP, Wish You Were Here. She has recently been involved with the careers of Polina Goudieva and Peta Jeffress, while developing Alec Chambers- a young up-and-coming singer/songwriter.

Her work with Alec Chambers has been fundamental in his ascension as a young pop artist. Sarah co-wrote all of the songs on Alec’s EP, titled Whole Again, which was released in March 2015.
