Ingrid Rounsaville Lyne (August 2, 1975 – April 8, 2016) was an American nurse from Renton, Washington whose dismembered body parts were discovered in the Seattle area on April 10, 2016.[1][2]

Disappearance and death

Lyne was last seen by friends on Friday, April 8, 2016 and was reported missing on April 9. Later that day, responding to a call from a homeowner[3], police found several of her dismembered body parts, including a severed head, foot, arm and leg[4] in a Seattle recycling bin,[5] approximately ten miles from her home.[6] On April 15, 2016, more severed body parts were found by a garbage collector in a different location, however, the remains have not yet been identified as a match to Lyne.[4]

Lyne's ex-husband arrived Saturday at Lyne's home to drop off their children, who had been kept overnight by grandparents, and found she was not at home. Concerned, he called Lyne's mother, who had a key and searched the house, finding her wallet, purse and cellphone. With the cell phone, Lyne's mother sent texts to John Robert Charlton, whom her daughter had been dating for a little over a month.[1] Lyne's mother next called the police who discovered blood, human tissue, and a pruning-saw in the bathroom, as well as trash bags which were identical to those containing Lyne's severed body parts.[7] The coroner's office stated Lyne's death was a result of "homicidal violence."[8]

Investigation and arrest

As the primary suspect in Lyne's death, Charlton was arrested on April 11. He was charged with first-degree murder and is being held in the King County Jail on $2M bail.[9]
