Buoysel (ブイゼル, Buizeru) is one of the Template:Pokenum fictional species of Pokémon from the Pokémon franchise - a series of video games, anime, manga, collectible trading cards and other media created by Satoshi Tajiri. Released only in March 2006 alongside Tamanta and Perap, it scheduled to appear in the movie Pokémon Ranger and the Prince of the Sea: Manaphy, as well as Pokémon Diamond and Pearl on the Nintendo DS. Buoysel is also in a short film called Pokémon Mischiveous Island along with Perap.

Buoysel is one of the many new Pokémon that will appear in the Nintendo DS games, Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. As a Water-type Pokémon, Buoysel is strong against Fire, Rock, and Ground Pokémon, but is weak against Electric and Grass Pokémon. Buoysel is set to appear in the 9th movie, Pokémon Ranger and the Prince of the Sea: Manaphy. However, its role in the movie has yet to be revealed.

Its Japanese name is apparently a portmanteau of the words “buoy”, and “weasel”. Buoysel’s actual appearance is similar to that of an otter, which is in the same family (Mustelidae) as weasels. Buoysel’s English name is currently unknown.

Characteristics

Buoysel possesses mainly mammalian characteristics with orange fur and paws as well as resembling a realistic cross between a weasel and a sea otter. The collar that is around its neck can be inflated and used as a floatation device when the Pokémon inhales. Buoysel also carries characteristics of sea creatures, in that it has blue fins and two tails, appearing to be split up, that resembles a fish's fin. The tails function as a boat propeller by spinning.

Limited information other than Buoysel being a Water-type Pokémon has been released. Buoysel will be able to learn Agility and will have the Swift Swim ability. Buoysel is said to be 0.7m tall and to weigh 29.5kg as well as being #056 in the Shinou Pokédex.

In the video games

Buoysel will be one of many new Pokémon to make its first appearance upon the release of Pokémon Diamond and Pearl for the Nintendo DS.

Buoysel will also be able to learn a new attack called Aqua Jet, a water based move that always hits first, which is the same as Quick Attack but is a Water Type move instead of Normal. It is presumed that Buoysel's speed rating will be incredibly high but this is simply based upon the fast-hitting and speed raising moves and Swift Swim ability it is known to possess thus far. Buoysel will also learn Agility, Swift, and Pursuit.

Buoysel is #56 in the Shinou Pokédex, confirming it is either a Basic or Baby Pokémon due to Pachirisu being #55.

In other Media

Buoysel made an appearance in the Trading Card half-deck promoting the 9th movie.
