Léon "Trouet" Motombo Mokuna (Kinshasa, 1. June 1935)[1] is a former Belgian striker, a former Red Devil (player of the Belgian national soccer team, who has been playing for Sporting Lisbon, KAA Gent and SV Waregem. He was the fist African soccer player in the Belgian competition.[2]
Biography
Mokuna went to school in Leopoldstad at the CICM Missionaries. When the city was visited by Beerschot and Sporting Lisbon, matches were organised between the teams and a little team of Leopoldsville. Mokuna scored 4 goals against Beershot and 2 against Lisbon.[3] As a result, he could start in 1953, at Sporting Lisbon. 1957, he was transferred to KAA Gent. As from 1961, he played at SV Waregem. he was the top scorer in 1959 and 1960 in Belgian Competition.[4] He played for the national team as from 1958 until... After his Belgian soccer career, he returned to the Democratic Republic of the Congo, where he became national head coach for a while..
Trivia
He got his nickname "Trouet" (little whole) as he once shot a ball right through the net.[3][5]
