Hi MTW

Thank you for you reversion of my edit, I wasn't sure if apps and goals were to be included, I take it from you reverting it, they are not, this will now enable me to make more appropriate edits

Thank You for your edit at Olivier Giroud, your input is crucial to helping build Wikipedia! Cheers :) TeaLover1996 (talk) 04:51,

Hi Mattythewhite I'm new to editing wikipedia articles and all I really wanted to do was change the picture used in the article. I have found a few other pictures that would be more accurate for this footballer Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shivgattu1202 (talkcontribs) 16:11, 24 July 2015‎ (UTC)[reply]

Carl Pentney

Hi! Thank you for keeping an eye on the statistics and my edits. The Carl Pentney stats are retrieved from the match reports at Maidenhead United's Pitch Hero website, apart from the Bath City match on 18 August 2015, which was covered by Bath Chronicle.

Roy Carroll edit

Hi. I am only a very occasional contributor and have no idea how this process works. You removed my edit saying there was "no reliable source". I'm not sure why you think a source is necessary ; the season statistics speak for themselves, and are available for all to see on the 2007-8 season page for Derby - 14 games after Carroll began playing, during which he let in 38 goals, and the club set a new Premiership record for the lowest ever points total. If you need a cross-reference as a "reliable source" it would be this Wiki page : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007%E2%80%9308_Derby_County_F.C._season . I don't know how to use that in a way which is acceptable to you. BOB

Hi Matty - I was reverting a previous change that had removed a couple of words from an already cited quote that meant the quote was no longer accurate annd made no sense. The addition was part of the article cited for the entire sentence and as such would be covered by that citation. I'd normally have changed this under my own username (User:AndrewMcQ) but I've mislaid my password after a longish absence from editting. Would you revert or should I?

Juan Hohberg World Cup 1954

I edit about the game of Uruguay vs Hungary in the article about the Golden Team, here you have the source of the hearth attack of Juan Hohberg in spanish http://www.kaisermagazine.com/retroblog/juan-hohberg-el-charrua-que-esquivo-a-la-muerte/

I've added a link to prove that the club have turned full time and highlighted quote from that article from the chairman below:

"Hunter went on “Going to a day time training programme three days a week, is tantamount to turning Meadow Park and Boreham Wood into a full time football club for the first time in our history.."

Wayne Routledge 20th March 2016

Hi, I uploaded an image on the page for Wayne Routledge and also made some other edits (by mistake). The image I uploaded was correct though yet you still deleted it. Could you give me a reason why you deleted and or could you just undo that step, thanks Ben Renwick (talk) 21:25, 8 May 2016 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ben Renwick (talkcontribs) 18:17, 8 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I don't believe I deleted it, but I may have tagged it for deletion, as it did not have a Wiki friendly copyright. Thanks, Mattythewhite (talk) 18:19, 8 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I think it did have Wiki friendly copyright as I took the photo myself and provided evidence for this Ben Renwick (talk) 21:24, 8 May 2016 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ben Renwick (talkcontribs) 21:19, 8 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

It's still in the article, in the Swansea City section. Mattythewhite (talk) 21:35, 8 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, thanks Ben Renwick (talk) 10:02, 14 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Matty, even though this addition (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Mauricio_Pochettino&diff=719419787&oldid=719316904) now has what you asked for, a citation, I still feel it to be 100% irrelevant (boys and wife not one bit relevant, and a tale about him going to see Shakespeare and hating it?) so I still removed it.

If you think I was in the wrong for doing it, please accept my apologies on behalf of WP and re-revert. Attentively --Be Quiet AL (talk) 23:29, 10 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm new to editing on Wikipedia so I hope it's OK to post here. You said I needed to add an reference to my info. I did then the above person said the info I put on was completely irrelevant. Now, the other manager's profiles I've seen all have personal info like that, so who is that person to say it's irrelevant? Are all editors on wiki equal or is there a hierarchy of people who can decide what goes on someone's page? I assume you agree because you haven't returned it. Please advise. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.100.203.69 (talk) 17:53, 22 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Andy Murray

My recent edit was supported by a link to the relevant Wikipedia page about Olympic qualification. If there is something wrong with that other Wikipedia page, then will you be changing that as well or deleting that page altogether? I'm not intending this to sound bad, but it is a genuibe question. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chelisuk (talkcontribs) 09:37, 15 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, content needs to be cited to sources external of Wikipedia, please refer to WP:RS. Mattythewhite (talk) 14:31, 15 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Danny Drinkwater

Why was my edit reverted? Samuel J Walker (talk) 16:37, 15 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Because your stats update was not complete, the totals were not updated. Mattythewhite (talk) 16:42, 15 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
In that case, wouldn't it be easier to update the areas I missed rather than re-do the whole edit? Looking at the page now, another user has edited it and made a bigger hash of it than I did. Samuel J Walker (talk) 16:47, 15 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Leighton Baines

Hi there. Why did you keep changing his height to 1.73m? He is not. On the official site of Evertonfc and the Premier League site, both said 1.70m. Obviously you ain't an Evertonian so please stop putting wrong stats on his page. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 45.64.241.30 (talk) 12:28, 16 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I changed it back because the new reference didn't work. You don't have to be a Toffee to edit Everton related pages, so let's nip that in the bud. Mattythewhite (talk) 12:30, 16 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The difference is pretty obvious. We are more careful in editing these page and won't insert incorrect data on these page cos we love our players. Not pointing finger at you my friend but as I recall the orginial data is correct someone put the link recently which indicates 1.73m and it is iwrong. Here you go for the ref: from the OS of Everton: http://www.evertonfc.com/players/l/lb/leighton-baines It states 1.70m not 1.73m. And the OS of the PL: http://m.premierleague.com/en-gb/players/playerprofile.html/leighton-baines It states 1.70m too. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 45.64.240.228 (talk) 12:58, 16 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Response

Hello, you sent me a message yesterday regarding putting capital letters on common nouns and having the same link in the info boxes. I'd just like to offer an explanation and if it satisfies you then great and if not then i'll listen to your advice. Regarding the capital letters, I have only been doing this in info boxes because the word promoted or relegated is in brackets and is not in a sentence. If it were I would not be putting a capital letter at the beginning of the words. I also think the info box looks more visually aesthetic with capital lettered words, otherwise i find the word (promoted or relegated) looks out of place as generally every other word in the info box has a capital letter. Secondly, regarding having the same link, I have only been doing this because clubs that are promoted and relegated obviously change league and thus the league and last season league link are different. In these cases there are two links. The problem I have is there is then a lack of consistency with clubs that stay in the same league as they only have one link, because as you say duplication is occurring. Thus personally I think it is better to have two links on all, rather than one link on some and two on other or one link on all and then having some league links you can't access.

Kind regards

Richard Brodie

Brodie signed for York City today. Maybe google things before you accuse people of changing wikipedia pages without reason. I expect you to correct his entry to reflect the changes i made. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.12.191.4 (talk) 14:30, 17 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If you had bothered to check, you would have seen I have since updated Mr Brodie's biography. With a source too, which you neglected to do. Mattythewhite (talk) 14:33, 17 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Quick question, before I go mental and clean that up (if need be, hence my asking you): are those sources sufficient for the STYLE OF PLAY section? Save for The Independent article, that looks like something out of a Football Manager report! Furthermore, most of his player profile is already covered (with REAL refs) in the intro, is it not?

Attentively, awaiting reply to edit there again --Be Quiet AL (talk) 19:07, 17 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I would agree that the non-Independent references don't look reliable. But bear in mind content should only be in the lead if it also appears in the main body of text. Mattythewhite (talk) 21:42, 17 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Gotcha! I will replace those ghastly "refs" (WHOSCORED, FOOTBALL-LINEUPS), keeping the wording. --Be Quiet AL (talk) 22:31, 17 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Incredible how these obscure players get this level of idiocy (it's somehow "understandable" that players with a lot of coverage are "presented" with vandalism, for instance Coke (footballer) had the audacity of scoring twice against Liverpool, his article had already been destroyed before the game was over!), and it happens for the second time now, getting a bit tiresome, i'll elaborate now:

1 - constantly changing the player's height, I have since rebrowsed the links available and found out that it is quite approximate (I have gone with 1,82 per the Portuguese - as him - sources); 2 - changing stats for Iraklis and Enosis Neon even though ALL the sources say otherwise; 3 - the most abhorrent change of all, notice how they leave the dashes in box (for years with clubs) after they finish (https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Julien_Fernandes&diff=718304374&oldid=718304150)!

Of course, the account User:Sousinho is also them, i'll be damned if not... If you can't provide any assistance (in the form of page protection, from what I have seen, no one - from us the well-intended, that is - touches this article but me, so that would not be a problem), no worries, i'll add it to my watchlist.

Attentively --Be Quiet AL (talk) 00:35, 19 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You sent me a message saying the above page was edited from this ip address, I am afraid, I have never been to nor heard of this page/person before this. Just a heads up that whoever you were looking for has a new ip address and is still out there - 86.167.189.231 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.167.189.231 (talk) 20:35, 19 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Tosin Adarabioyo

Hi, there is an error on Tosin's page which you have reverted a number of times. This message is sent on Tosin's behalf. The name "Oluwadoyinsolami" does not feature in his full name. It was originally posted on Wikipedia following an error on an FA publication. I have viewed Tosin's passport and can confirm that "Oluwadoyinsolami" does not feature at all. Do let me know what is required in order to permanently correct the error.

Hi, content on Wikipedia is cited by reliable, published sources, meaning an alternative will be required to change his full name. But looking at the Birth records, Mr Adarabioyo does have two names beginning with O following "Abdul-Nasir Oluwatosin". Can you shed any light as to what they stand for? Thanks, Mattythewhite (talk) 12:58, 20 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Watford FC No mistake made with the edit, but I forgot to reference my change. Someone else has made the edit once again now. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.37.99.157 (talk) 18:04, 21 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I am an OTRS agent, and reviewing an email ticket:2016051610006792 received in connection with this issue.

As you know, when it comes to alternative names we follow the policy: WP:COMMONNAME.

While it appears there is one site using Oluwadoyinsolami As part of his name, I reviewed some of the other links and did not find another link supporting that name. The subject contends the source of that was in error but we don't need to settle whether it was an error. Per policy we should be using "the name that is most commonly used (as determined by its prevalence in a significant majority of independent, reliable English-language sources)".

I have changed the name. Please let me know if you think I'm mistaken.--S Philbrick(Talk) 15:21, 26 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, but I don't agree with this change. WP:COMMONNAME relates only to article titles, which is irrelevant to this discussion. We have a reliable source to cite the subject's full name, that being the official website of the Football Association. In line with WP:V, I don't believe we should remove this sourced content based on an email. Mattythewhite (talk) 15:30, 26 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
And based on this search on Findmypast, the subject's full name is "Abdul-Nasir Oluwatosin" followed by two names beginning with O. This aligns with the Football Association doc which states "Abdul-Nasir Oluwatosin Oluwadoyinsolami Ol", with the last O presumably incomplete. Mattythewhite (talk) 15:35, 26 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Interesting "contribution"

According to this "user" (please see this https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Carlos_del_Cerro_Grande&diff=721660899&oldid=721660086), Daniel Carriço had every reason to call this ref a "faggot". Three sending offs yesterday, all fair, but there is just no pleasing "persons" like this, football is an ALL-OUT WAR.

I cannot even (wait, I can!) imagine what their other edits are, but I suppose (per list of contributions) they are dedicated to spew hate on all things Barcelona. Pityful! --Be Quiet AL (talk) 14:42, 23 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

User warned. From a quick glance his previous contributions don't seem unconstructive, so I've not blocked yet. Mattythewhite (talk) 15:44, 23 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Scrambling of infobox fields

Matty, is there a new editing trend that I am not aware of (and I am not being sarcastic mate, serious as can be)? Just in Éder (Portuguese footballer), I have seen two accounts (yes, I have seen as many accounts as IPs overall) scrambling the fields (leaving club stuff first, then updates, then national team stuff, then club stuff again, the lots!) and leaving them like this (in Éder, you have HARRY45SS https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=%C3%89der_(Portuguese_footballer)&diff=721840505&oldid=721764832 and next you have established user UNREAL7 https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=%C3%89der_(Portuguese_footballer)&diff=721919868&oldid=721903018).

Too much thinking of other examples, but I do remember these two accounts (please see here https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Adrien_Rabiot&diff=716883129&oldid=716784796 or https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Nolito&diff=721655141&oldid=720761354). If I am in the wrong reverting this, would like to know why, but of course i'll abide to the (possible) new M.O. Attentively --Be Quiet AL (talk) 22:34, 24 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I believe it's some kind of technical issue causing this to happen, but I don't know actually what. It's not the users doing it intentionally. Mattythewhite (talk) 22:36, 24 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I see, no biggies then. Thanks. --Be Quiet AL (talk) 22:43, 24 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
