Cody A. Reed (born April 15, 1993) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Cincinnati Reds of Major League Baseball (MLB).

Career

Reed attended Horn Lake High School in Horn Lake, Mississippi. He holds numerous school baseball records and his number is retired.[1] After high school he attended Northwest Mississippi Community College to play college baseball.

Reed was drafted by the Kansas City Royals in the second round of the 2013 Major League Baseball Draft.[2] He made his professional debut with the Idaho Falls Chukars. Reed pitched 2014 with the Lexington Legends and started 2015 with the Wilmington Blue Rocks. In June, he was selected to be the starting pitcher for Carolina in the California-Carolina League All-Star Game.[3][4] After the game he was promoted to the Double-A Northwest Arkansas Naturals.

Reed was traded to the Cincinnati Reds, along with John Lamb and Brandon Finnegan, for Johnny Cueto on July 26, 2015.[5]

Reed was called up to make his major league debut on June 18, 2016.[6] On his debut he pitched 7 innings allowing 6 hits, 4 runs, & 9 strike outs.
