Alexander Muchnik (Russian: Александр Геннадьевич Мучник; Ukrainian: Олександр Геннадійович Мучник; born May 10, 1954 in Odessa, USSR) - a lawyer,[1] human rights activist[2][3][4][5] and journalist.[6][7][8]

One of the founders and president of the first non-profitable non-governmental charitable organization in the Soviet Union Dr. Haass Social Assistance Fund.[2][9][10]

President of the Institute of Democracy and Human Rights.[1][2][5][11][12][13][14][15]

Education

In 1981 graduated with honors from the Faculty of Law, Ilya Mechnikov State University of Odessa (presently: Odessa I. I. Mechnikov National University).[1]

Area of scientific research: Constitutional law, philosophy of law, Theory and History of State and Law of Soviet Union, organization of public authority.[1]

Professional activity

President of the Institute of Democracy and Human Rights.[1][2]

In 2002 he was appointed adviser to Prime Minister of Ukraine.[1]

Scientific Advisor on human rights and constitutional law of the President of Ukraine (December 24, 2002 - March 25, 2005).[1][16][17]

In 2005 he was appointed adviser to Secretary of National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.[1]

Honored Lawyer of Ukraine.[1][18]
