Alexis Merizalde Knapp (born July 31, 1989) is an American actress and singer. She is known for her role as Stacie Conrad in the musical films Pitch Perfect (2012) and Pitch Perfect 2 (2015). She is also known for her role of Alexis in the party film Project X (2012), and her role on the first season of the TBS comedy Ground Floor.

Early life

Knapp was born in Avonmore, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Marjorie and the late Bradford Elwood Knapp.[1][2][3] She grew up in the Outer Banks of North Carolina before leaving home and moving to Los Angeles at the age of 18.[4][5]

Knapp has two brothers.

Career

At age 18, Knapp moved to Los Angeles.[6] There in 2008 she hosted a popular internet video series titled 'Project Lore', a show about the videogame 'World of Warcraft', and also worked as a model before breaking into acting. She appeared in Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief as Aphrodite Girl and in Couples Retreat. In 2012, she starred in Project X as Alexis and Pitch Perfect as Stacie Conrad, the highly sex-crazed Barden Bella. She reprised her role in the latter's 2015 sequel.

Knapp also appeared in an episode of ABC's short-lived series Super Fun Night, written by and starring her Pitch Perfect co-star Rebel Wilson.[7][8] Knapp also starred in the Tom Vaughan directed film So Undercover, as Taylor Jaffe. Alexis also has roles in TBS' Ground Floor, portraying Tori, a party girl, who catches up on her sleep at work the next morning. She did not return for the series' second season.[9] Knapp was also cast in the Lifetime pilot Cinnamon Girl, before it got passed on.[10] Knapp also stars in short film drama Wracked, as Melissa.[11][12] (She is also the main character of the trilogy named "Dangerous love".)

Personal life

Knapp dated actor Ryan Phillippe in the summer of 2010,[13] though they split up in September that year.[14] After their breakup, Knapp discovered that she was pregnant and gave birth to their daughter, Kailani Merizalde Phillippe-Knapp, on July 1, 2011.[15] Phillippe was present during the birth.[16]
