Northside USA is an American footwear company. Its parent company, Triple T Trading, was founded in Portland, Oregon in 1985. Headquartered in Marysville, Washington, Northside designs, manufactures and sells recreational outdoor footwear to over 300 retailers, at over 1200+ locations nationwide.[1]
History
In 1985, Jim Thayer founded Triple T Trading in Portland, Oregon, as a wholesale manufacturer of family footwear.
In 1988, Thayer's sons, Jeff and Bob joined the company.
In 2000, the Northside brand was developed, shifting the company’s mission to recreational/seasonal footwear.[2]
In 2003, the company relocated to Marysville, Washington, with 30+ employees.
In 2005, as Jim Thayer retired, Jack Wolfin joined the company as a Partner and President, after 12 years with Philip Services Corporation as Senior Manager and Regional Vice President. Jeff Thayer remains with Northside as Senior Vice President of Sales and Operations and Bob Thayer is the Senior Vice President of Design and Key Accounts.
Sales
Northside sells to prominent large retailers including Fred Meyer, Scheels All Sports, Gander Mountain, & Sportsman’s Warehouse.[3] Despite rising labor and material costs in 2011, Northside continued to demonstrate positive growth.[4] Northside formed successful partnerships with several online retailers, including Amazon.com. In 2014, Northside's Kid's Winter Boot, the "Frosty," was the leading kids footwear seller for that e-tailer.
In July 2013, the company launched a new brand promising to reinvest in retail-focused initiatives.[5] To accompany their renewed mission, Northside USA developed a new tagline, “Just For Fun”.
Philanthropy
Northside USA has several philanthropic affiliations, including bi-annual donations to Soles4Souls.[6] In August 2012, the company provided discounted Brille water shoes to benefit the Outdoor Foundation at Outdoor Retailer Summer Market.[7] In December 2014, Northside USA partnered with Project Sole, providing 500 pairs of shoes to the Smilow Rainier Vista Boy’s & Girl’s Club of King County in Seattle, Washington.[8]
