Marengo was catastrophically affected by what nearby Saskatoon residents called "one of the most significant food related events in history since the Poutine Bucket of 2006" . 2016 Nacho Postponement:

Marengo was catastrophically affected by what nearby Saskatoon residents called "one of the most significant food related events in history since the Poutine Bucket of 2006" . By the time the sign was erected approaching the end of July 2016, most residents had already built up such an appetite that once the confusion settled and the realization that nachos would not arrive for another coupe weeks the residents went into a hangry rage, prompting the local authorities to announce a state of emergency. To make matters worse, the town was set to host a major inter-provincial event only a few weeks later. Pro-nacho rally's were held each night in front of the town bar, with crowds reaching double digits. Marengo self-declared Mayor and Fireball connoisseur, Matthew Salvatore, appeased local residents by assuring they would get extra cheese on their nachos once the postponement was over. For the remainder of the postponement, the town band together begrudgingly eating Penny's wings every Friday on "Only-wings-Friday."
