DFW North Station is an under-construction FWTA commuter rail and proposed DART light rail and DART commuter rail station to be located on Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport property in Grapevine, Texas.

FWTA commuter rail station

FWTA (the T) is currently planning to construct TEX Rail from T&P Station in Fort Worth to DFW Airport Station in Grapevine. A key component is the DFW North station, which will provide transfers to the DART Cotton Belt Line and the DART Orange Line. This station would serve employees of the airport, but it is also expected to spur transit-oriented development in the immediate area, which plans call for a mix of hospitality, entertainment, commercial, retail, office, and residential units in the surrounding area. A bus loading and kiss-and-ride area (connected to the platforms via a pedestrian walkway) would be located west of this station.[1] DFW Airport, after announcements that TEX Rail was green-lit for construction, has said that they will provide $40 million to build only the DFW Airport station, which would leave the FWTA to build this station.[2]

DART light rail station

DART plans to extend the Orange Line line to DFW Airport in two phases. Phase I, currently complete and in operation, runs from Belt Line Station directly to DFW Airport Station, located at the airport's Terminal A. Phase II is planned as a branch line running north from Belt Line Station to DFW North Station before turning south toward the airport and terminating at DFW Airport Station. The station is intended to be a transit hub offering light rail riders a connection to the planned DART Cotton Belt line.[3]

DART does not plan to build the Phase II branch, which includes the proposed DFW North Station, until commuter rail service on the Cotton Belt line is implemented.[4]
