Lei Tung (Chinese: 利東) is an under-construction underground MTR rapid transit station in Hong Kong on the eastern section of the South Island Line, located beside Mount Johnston on Ap Lei Chau in Southern District. The station is named after the adjacent housing estate of the same name, which it will serve in addition to Ap Lei Chau Main Street. The station is being built below Yue On Court and Lei Tung Estate, and is scheduled to open on 18 December 2016[1] with the rest of the South Island Line.

The station will be an underground station with two tracks and an island platform.[2] North of the station, the line will rise onto Aberdeen Channel Bridge, a brand-new railway bridge designed by Atkins Global that will span Aberdeen Channel.[3]

Artwork will be Dawn of a New Day and Journeys Along the South Island Line (East) by local children under the respective leadership of Castaly Leung Ching-man and Sum Sum Tse. The art will be located in the passageway to exit A, as well as the concourse and lift cars of exit B.[2][4]

Entrances/exits

Lei Tung Station will have two exits. The exit to Lei Tung Estate Bus Terminal is proposed to be connected to the concourse by lifts instead of escalators, due to the 40-metre (130 ft) depth of the platforms. When the station opens, residents can walk from exit A to exit B without paying an MTR fare.[2]

  • A1, A2: Ap Lei Chau Main Street (A2 accessed by lift, A1 at ground level) Wheelchair user access[2]
  • B: Lei Tung Estate, Lei Tung Commercial Centre, taxi stand, bus terminal (all entry/exit by 4 lifts) Wheelchair user access[2]
