Gameplay

Introduction

Winning Putt allows up to four players to tee-off together on several fictional golf courses. The game also features a social hub called "The Square" where player avatars can interact with other players and buy or sell items from various NPCs, or trade with other players. Players earn experience and gold, an in game currency, with each swing they take, and get bonuses on completing a hole or round of golf. When a player earns enough experience they will advance in level, and after level 5 begin earning training points to further advance their character's statistics. Gold can be used in game for a variety of items which can be purchased from other players or NPC shops.

The actual game of golf makes use of a standard 3 click swing bar seen in many other golf games. Players click once to start their swing, again to set power, and a third time to set the accuracy of their shot. Stopping the meter at the perfect center results in a nice shot, while deviating from this results in the ball drifting to the right or left at random.

Characters

Winning Putt is similar to other MMORPGs in that it uses a mixture of experience and items to increase a character's power. There are two character classes including the Power and Accuracy classes.

Power

Power characters excel at hitting the ball farther than Accuaracy class characters. However, the increased distance also results in lower accuracy meaning that players of this class can have difficulties placing the ball where they want.

Accuracy

Accuracy characters trade distance for being able to place the ball where they want.

Both classes can unlock skills by spending their training points in different stats. Skills allow player to change the way a base shot works, allowing players to curve the ball through the air intentionally, or even reduce the effect that flying through a tree can have on a ball.

Courses

Winning Putt currently has 10 Courses of varying difficulty. The courses, in order of difficulty from easiest to highest are as follows:

  • Memorial
  • Helena
  • Breezy Hill
  • Maiphai Hills
  • Plumeria
  • Edelweiss
  • Wildstone
  • Seven Angels
  • Harsh Cape[3]

Each course can be played on five different difficulties, which change the starting tee position, and the pin position.

Game modes

  1. Friendly Rounds are nice friendly games of golf played alone or with other players. This is the primary mode of play for players who simply seek to advance their character in levels.
  2. Betting Rounds are a head to head type game where players place bets on the game's outcome.
  3. Challenge Rounds face you off against another player's previous game on a given course. If you can beat their score, you will win a sum of gold. If not, the other player will receive a small amount of gold as a reward.
  4. The Practice Range allows players to practice their short game as well as long game, and is essentially a driving range. NO experience or gold can be earned in the practice range.
  5. Ranked Rounds allow players to compete in 6 hole one on one matches for ranking points. At the end of each ranked round season players earn rewards based on their current ranking.
  6. Survival Time Attack pits multiple players against each other in a competition for points based not only on their score, but how quickly they can achieve their best score. Once a player holes out other players have 30–45 seconds based on the game type selected to finish the hole or be cut.
  7. Tournaments consist of 18 hole rounds of golf on various courses in Winning Putt. Each tournament has its own set of prizes, usually gold and ranked tournament points. The final tournament of each season is an invitational that only the top 30% of ranked tournament players can take place in.
