Tau2 Gruis (Tau2 Gru), is a binary system located in the constellation Grus. Tau2 Gruis is also known as HD 216656, and HD 216655. The system is located at Right Ascension 22h 55m 16sec and Declination -48 deg 29 arcmin 30 arcsec. The beautiful (though somewhat faint double) can be located west of Beta Gruis. The system is 152 light years from Earth. The two stars were assigned the designation Tau2 due to their proximity to Tau3 Grus, by Louis de Lacaille in his Coelum Australe Stelliferum.

Tau2 A Gruis is an F7V main sequence star, of apparent Magnitude +6.67, and absolute magnitude +3.33. Tau2 B Gruis is an G5V main sequence star, of apparent magnitude +7, and an absolute magnitude of +3.71. The stars are both slightly more massive than the Sun.

The system is also notable for being a high proper motion system.
