Guillem Balague (Born Barcelona, Spain) is Sky Sports Spanish football expert and a respected journalist

Sky Sports

A trained journalist, Guillem joined Sky Sports' Spanish football team while working in London as a correspondent for Don Balon, Spain's oldest and best selling football magazine.

He can be seen on Sky Sports weekly programme Revista De La Liga, in which he provides weekly updates from behind the glamorous scenes of La Liga, keeping viewers up-to-date with all the latest news and views.

As well as discussing the hottest topics in Spain, Guillem casts an eye towards the live games each weekend and keeps viewers posted on David Beckham's development at Real Madrid during his time at the Bernabeu.

Guillem Balague has given Sky Sports' live Spanish coverage and the weekly magazine show for La Liga a crucial edge thanks to his knowledge of the Spanish game, links with La Liga's clubs and contacts with his fellow Spanish journalists.

As well as television work with Sky Sports, he also has a section on the Sky Sports website called 'Guillem's Gossip' which is a 90 second video in which he gives all the latest news from La Liga.

Journalism

Guillem is a respected journalist and has written for many several English and Spanish newspapers.

He has written articles in British newspapers The Times and The Observer, as well as a weekly column in the free daily commuter newspaper The Metro commenting mainly on stories involving continental football.

He has also worked for Spanish magazines Marca and El Mundo.

Personal

Guillem hails from Barcelona, however he supports the city's lesser lights Espanyol, a choice he made after seeing his side beat their local rivals F.C Barcelona 5-1 over 20 years ago.

Guillem speaks fluent English which he learnt while in University in Liverpool.
