Weki Meki (Korean위키미키; also known as WEME (위미)) is a South Korean girl group formed by Fantagio in 2017. The group consists of eight members: Suyeon, Elly, Yoojung, Doyeon, Sei, Lua, Rina, and Lucy.

History

Pre-debut

The members started out as trainees under Fantagio iTeen, a rookie talent development program under Fantagio Entertainment, and were known as i-Teen Girls. Elly, Yoojung, Doyeon, and Say (then under LOUDers Entertainment) competed in the Mnet survival television program Produce 101, which aired from January 22 to April 1, 2016. Yoojung and Doyeon were ranked in the final Top 11 contestants and debuted in the girl group project I.O.I with their first EP Chrysalis on May 4, 2016[1]and promoted as members of I.O.I until January 2017.

2017–present: Debut with WeMe

On July 10, 2017, Fantagio set the release date for their upcoming album to August 8, 2017, confirming that a showcase will be held to celebrate the release. They also released a poster with the numbers 888.[2] On July 23rd, Fantagio released the first 8 individual teaser photos of the Weki Meki members.
