Françoise Moréchand (born March 29, 1936) is a French TV personality active in Japan. Moréchand was one of the first foreigners to appear as foreign tarento on Japanese TV in 1964. Her father was an exile Polish technician and her mother was French. During World World I, they moved from Paris to Toulouse. They returned to Paris just before the liberation of Paris. After graduating from Sorbonne University, Japanese Department, Moréchand wanted to become a Chinese or Russian interpreter, but instead went to Tokyo in 1958. Her first work in Tokyo was teaching French at home, then teaching French at Japan Air Line and at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. After that, she acted as a lecturer in the NHK French conversation and gained popularity, appeared in numerous programs such as TV Asahi's "Fox Opinion". She returned to France once in 1964 after working at Christian Dior and Revlon for several years.[1]
