Ananda Wedisinghe (died 29 May 2017) was a popular Sri Lankan motorsports rider who won many national titles in motorsports including Super Motard 450 cc event in the past. He is also considered to be the veteran Sri Lankan motorsports rider in the history, which means he is one of the finest racing riders that the country has produced.[1] A common name in local racing sports – Ananda Wedisinghe is an eight-time Fox Hill Supercross champion.

Death

Wedisinghe met with a tragic accident that occurred on 23 April 2017 at the Nuwara Eliya Road Race when he was competing against Suraj Perera in the Group SM 450cc class. He was treated for serious injuries at the Intensive Care Unit of the Kandy General Hospital. Doctors ruled that there were serious injuries to his spine and head that caused him to be critical. On 29 May, after being in hospital for a month, he died at the age of 47.[2][3][4]
